  1. Hi folks
just seen these on fleabay advertised by VW Heritage,
    £50.00 +£6.00 p&p - bargain or what :)
All I need is now is one for the right! ;D

  2. you can fit the left hand to the right ,just bleed the caliper on the disc and when fitting turn it upsidedown...

tis only the bleed nipple in the wrong place... C:)

K+ to the both of you.

  5. Arent the bolt holes different on the top to the bottom on late bay callipers?

    Im pretty sure mine were

  6. 'Drat and double drat' :(

  8.
  9. Same size holes then but different length bolts and one bolt with a shoulder

I remembered there was somthing differant about them

  10. The old 'uns with two nipples (matron) I recall fitted either side. If the new 'uns are symmetrical, can't see any reason for not using one "upside down". You need to bleed when the nipple's at the top to let the air out, so likely do it before bolting up. The bolts are different, can't remember why.

Buy one, try it upside down, buy another :).

  11. early calipers [not available anymore]had smaller holes to accommodate smaller bolts to go into the hub ,crossovers have to use late calipers with collars...or get later hubs..

The two nipples might have been a good idea for draining the caliper in the olde days ,but neglect meant the lower nipple got more corrosion leading to more problems..Universal things I would have thought was easy `er to stock and less problems than lh and rh things..

  12. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

The holes are different sizes in the caliper, but the same thread in the steering knuckle, so just keep bolts in same caliper holes.
