New engine!!!

Help!!
Firstly our beloved Vera is cooped up in a barn as we don't currently have funds to get a new engine (she went pop in sept after last camping trip :-()
And we have just moved house and have a 3 week old baby... £££££ but we just have no clue on how much it's all going to set us back - anyone near Ludlow Shropshire that does engines and can help get us on the road again and give us a quote ?!

 

Diagnosis was 'something tinkling in bottom end of engine'
The mechanic wasn't much help really who looked at it so much so we left it with a cover in the back and everyone we spoke to him when it was in the garage (5 or 6 times) asked to make sure he'd covered her over and he said yes!
Turns out he hadn't!! And on delivery back to our friends barn it was soaking inside and out 6 month old mad matz were mouldy :-(((

Don't be hard on yourselves. We've all been novices....some of us still are....
This is a good place for advice

 

Just that the Type 1 engine ( top and middle) is significantly cheaper than the type 4 (the bottom one).

As said above, ask away. There is no such thing as a 'too basic' question. folks are REALLY helpful and you will get top advice that can save you a fortune. My brother lives in Much Wenlock and his neighbour had a type 4 engine rebuilt very recently by someone in Telford. I will try to find out who did the work. They did a great job.

 

I hope you can get something sorted so you can enjoy your bus for the reason you bought Charlene But stories like this keep cropping up again and again, And it really is a crying shame People see and want the summer lifestyle and freedom culture that they see , but in reality you've gotta know what you are doing and what you are buying, I was lucking with my bus and I have a bit of knowledge that helped me along, lots don't and time and time again It invariably goes wrong.

I'm Droitwich not far from Ludlow Iv some idea with engines now from techenders ect also with building beetle t1 engine but I'm at volksworld at the mo and p#####d msg me after Tomoz I'll read the thread as I can't see at the mo
