good job, who did you use for the seals?

  2. Erm...what's flattening down mean? What do you do??

  3. Hi Rickyroooooo...seals I've done are rear and the 4 windows - all vwheritage and fitted well. Will report on the doors soon!

YC's - flatting down - there was a great deal of orange peel paint which would not polish out as it was too thick, so...1200 grade wet and dry, very wet - with a fair deal of soap in the water, then when very dull and the peel effect just about gone went to 1800. Once happy with the level of paint, used G3 Farcela Liquid, its a a fairly aggressive rubbing compound - I know Rickyroo used this on the Poo Bus! Finally T-Cut then polish.

I need to get the electric polisher on it, but happy with the effect so far, by hand. I'm not after a gleaming bus just a clean look.
    Cheers

ok cheers, i went c&c for seals but not arrived yet hope the expense is worth it..... did you fit the screens yourself or get a fitter, i've never done it and am a bit scared of breaking the glass

  5. Not sure I'd want to do a front screen (purely because I would want to have a clear shot at it without the dash in the way)but had no problems with the flat glass stuff. As long as the glass fits snug in the seal before you start it seems to go okay.

I had my 17 year old outside just gently leaning on the glass (his normal stance) and instead of string in the grove I stripped a piece of electric cable and used the earth lead as the trace to pull the seal over the lip! Just go slowly and if the string breaks you can always use an old flat balde screw driver to help the seal over (just file off the sharpe edge of the blade).

cheers, someone (gumbo i think) posted how to with a video on the site before it crashed, i've searched you tube for the video but can't find it, i'm gonna attempt the screen with help...not much choice as it's out but i cut the old one with a stanley knife so that was easy.

  7. It'll work, just remember, as with all things T2 - go slooooooow !

  11. I'll k- you to within an inch of your life you know.

  12. ...upadate, drop over the weekend - Red9 coilovers/ torsion bars and bumpstops to front (4") and horseshoe plates at rear (3.5") . Much nicer to look at and feels good on the road - getting there slowly !

  13. that o.range makes the poo colour look less poo like imho. Could do with going a smidge lower on the front to give it a purposeful stance and some big fat tyres :)

looking good. Let us know how you get on with the red9 kit. I like the look of the full beam replacement, this one looks a bit scary to me though - how does it work? They look like they are carrying all the weight on the shock towers? Is it more robust than that?
    :)

  14. Hi mate...yep I agree wieght on the shock towers - but talked it through with Red9 (very helpful) and compared the type of set up with my bike (Triumph triple) a 160 mph bike with all the stresses of speed and angles taken through one bolt on the monoshock - same issue really... and a design all bike manufactures follow

I reckon any changes to stock have their pros and cons !!

  16. ...few more hours spent on the bus as I'm at home at the moment in between blood tests and hospital appointments for the DVT !!

As you can see we are on a budget so re-covering panels rather than getting new ones. attached views fore and aft of the interior...

  17. Too cold to do much at present but..
Pics back and front - and yes they are "playtime" chrome bumpers but they were ebay specials and a quarter of the new price! Vanagon trims also polished up well.

Inside, carried on with re-covering the panels, they look okay for a first attempt - seat in 4" foam and a home made cover so the bed can be used later in the Spring.

As always the steering wheel is sticky, so covered in rope for now - 32 metres of the stuff!!

Headlining hopefully next step as well as sourcing some furniture

  18. Interior begun.
Previuos buses had little storage near the cooker and sink so large cupboard for water, gas and provisions with small wardrobe for this one. Very small sink will be in end of unit.

Needs triming to fit behind the seat and will give a few more inches at the back seat. Two can sit on back seat/bed comfortably, 3 at a pinch!

There is room for a Smev 2 burner cooker and small round sink. Still room for a "buddy seat" behind the passenger seat and an overhead locker.

  19. Nice design! Looks good and decent amout of storage K+

  20. Cobblers....the Mrs. isn't happy with the truck mirrors!
I thought they were a bit different, Mk 1 Pajero copies on home made (very poor) brackets (I'm making decent ones!)

Was a bit unsure about new holes in the doors but when you look closely inside any U.S. import the side markers are just screwed on with self tappers and so is Deluxe trim so, hey....

Just had a pair of JK's own door cards delivered as the cream colour matches the material I have used in the back. The card is a bit thin but all in all not bad for the price.

Sink should arrive tomorrow so on with the interior!
    Cheers B
