Me too…. Not really until maybe 97 / 98 at uni when I was a bit more open minded and then Californication really grabbed everyone’s attention and was so much more commercially digestible!
Yeah, I got quite into him as a guitarist around that time… he had to retrain his arms and hands to actually play the guitar for that album after cleaning up. Hence everything is slower, more chord based and far easier for me to learn!!! I might argue that “I could have lied” possibly rivals most tracks on Californication as one of my favourites to play. Anyway, back on topic….
