Nazi bunker in my garden......

  1. There is plenty of speculation as to what it was, CY88 has dropped a couple of hints through the thread as to what the papers spoke about (around page 160ish i think).

It seems that the German admiral that was in control of the island was not willing to surrender and it is known that the house was used by officers during ww2 perhaps even for the admiral.

  2. Grrr. I confess I read some of the original thread backwards, but didn't seem to be getting anywhere.

The guy did just seem to clam up after his initial enthusiasm...there was mysterious letter from the Germans, but didn't seem to go anywhere.

    Aaaaagh....can't stand the suspense!

K+ to bodyrock for posting this stuff :)

  8. Cheers for the appreciation guys.

  9. The Guy has obviously been offered substanial figure's, Hence no finale. Don't blame him really. It'll be on the BBC once it's all been documented. Be interesting to see what significance it had to the war. I'd say alot. He seems to keep too much under wraps.
Can't wait to see it on the TV, saves reading 233 pages of people saying "can't stand the suspence" and "bump". Yes tried to read it backwards but hey!!!

  11. So whats peoples thought then???

My mind gets blurred reading so much + the wiki link

What is this tunnel and the digging gonna show.

  12. Could be the remains of the many pow's

Could be something to do with liquid air development, there was a lot of coal shipped to Jersey. Look it up.

May have been a secret research complex

Some of the other tunnel complexes are massive on this island

  17. Well it's not going to be gold or things like that, why would the Germans ship it to a little island?

Ammunition and weapons? A serious possibility

Trial weapons? A good possibility being so close to UK and the fact that it was the most well defended area of the whole war

Slaves/pow's remains? Again a good possibility. From the research I've done I can't find records that account for all of them.

Empty? Probable. after the war lots of looting went on before the military sweeped the area, although these two tunnels were clearly hidden on purpose. The other bunker type things on the island were semi buried but obvious entrances.

What grabs my interest the most if the cost of everything and he has still pursued the excavations so he must either have had funding or has pretty solid facts to what he is going to find.

I've even google earthed it but the last data images are from 2005

  18. Great thread this
I reckon it was a place for something a bit special , something top secret and a new type of weapon

i might have a bunker in the garden because i found a golf ball

  19. Shame there was no nazi gold found. I was so hoping for that. :(

I once found an old air raid shelter in a mates garden while clearing the area before he got his garage built.
13 tons of hired excavator just sunk into the ground and fell on its side when the roof collapsed under the weight. That was a fun morning. ;D
