Dougal is living under a carport now, he’s too tall for the garage, which is full anyway.

Most of the time he stays dry, but the rain doesn’t always fall vertically so sometimes one end gets wet. I do have an outdoor cover, which came with the van, I haven’t tried it yet but I’m tempted to use it for the next few weeks as I’ve no plans to go anywhere while it’s cold and the roads are salty.

Last night I had second thoughts though, as it was blowing a gale. I just worry that the cover flapping around in the wind will cause more wear and tear to the mint paintwork that any number of showers would.

If I had a ‘patina’ van it wouldn’t be a problem, I know, but we are where we are. Given that I’m precious about my paint, shall I leave it as it is?

Give it a good polish with something decent, and leave it naked, so it dries out between storms

  4. I store mine under carport . Has cover on 99% of time . This year it has two . No issues only that spiders like it . No condensation or rubbage and my cat likes sitting on top of it

Its probably best to keep air circulation under a car port, no cover, while the sun is low.

Put the cover on in the summer when the UV fades paints and coloured lenses in lights.

  6. Covered up, nice and warm in our tiny garage. We did have to change the door to get the height, and there is about an inch of space either side when he's driven in. Getting out, once in, is an act of contortion, but he is dry.

  7. Could you rig up a bit of tarp or something at the end of the car port that gets hit by the horizontal rains? Or maybe post a pic if you want some more detailed advice :)
