my ride, aussie bay

  1. aussie bay, I'm fitting a floor soon too. Is that just a piece of marine ply wood under the tiles? Is there anything between the wood and the metal floor? And does anything go under the tiles or do they just stick onto the ply wood?

  2. it is marine ply but a 6x4 sheet isnt quite big enough and i could get anything else at the time. a 5x5 would have been better. i didnt want a join in the middle of the wood so if you look on the right there is a thin strip joined under the bed.
you can fit some closed cell insulation to the bare floor and have the ply floating on the top. i just used some adhesive and stuck the ply to the floor in 5 or 6 places. i fitted the ply with the bed in place and havent put any inside the box part at all.
find the centre of the floor lay the tiles out and make sure there are no silly 5mm gaps around the edge.
spread the adhesive on the ply and fit the tiles when the adhesive goes tacky
or you can get some self adhesive tiles from the diy shop that will just stick straight on

I feel bad for joking about the ubiquitous "I've had my tinwear powdercoated" photo in my resto thread this evening... I would've if I'd had the room to lay it all out!!

Good work! I've ordered a holder for LEDs for mine, sorted a switch and been mulling over the positioning while laying on my back under the van!!

hopefully I'll have some blue paint on by the end of this weekend and be installing my lovely powdercoated bits!!
