  1. aside from my '74 TDI Westy, I have a '73 Beetle since 1998, it was my grandads car before me and the first car I owned. It got a full resto back at the start and another mini-resto in 2007. Running a stock 1600.

I've got a mk1 Jetta which I've also converted to TDI. This one is a drag-race project. I say project as I'm constantly developing it to get more and more go out of it. No idea of the actual BHP yet but it's currently at 14.8s quarter mile with more to go ;) I'd estimate about 170BHP but that could be wildly inaccurate, just a guess.

that's the current fleet. In the past I've had a couple of other beetles, a mk1 Golf, mk1 Derby, mk1 Polo, mk1 Passat, B1 Audi 80, an aircooled T3, mk2 Polo, B4 Passat and more that I can't remember. Daily driver is a TDI B5.5 Passat estate.

Very nice beetle. Can you see through the exhaust smoke on the jetta?! :). My sister had a Jetta years ago, but pronounced it yetta. She told me there was no J sound in the German language. She'd been living over there. Funny how some things stick in your head.

    Nice yetta :)

  4. you're right, the exhaust smoke is right in the wrong place alright!! That pipe is the result of a 3AM finish in the rush to get the car ready for the event it was photographed at above. Previous to that I had a nice straight-up chimney that was out of the line-of-sight but I decided the day before the event was the day to upgrade my turbo and nothing from the old turbo swapped over so a quick 2AM rummage through the scrap bin in the shed located a suitable (ish!) bend of an old exhaust pipe. The result can be seen above!! Redesigning the exhaust to be more user-friendly is on the winter "to-do" list for the car.

and thanks for your compliment on my old beetle :)
