Checked them earlier and they are all in good nick. Some of the engine vent pipes could do with replacing though.

Drove the poo bus for the first time today.....all of 2 miles to the MOT place, it didn't catch fire so I was very pleased.

Bloody scary, high winds and bent steering arms are not a good combination, the thing was all over the place. I didn't know the steering arms were bent until I asked the garage to take a look at the tracking and find out why I had tyre screech all of the way there. The smell of burning rubber was awful. Looks like they shippers strapped it down and didn't take a look where they placed the straps. The wheels are towing out by about by an inch either side. I've ordered a replacement set just in case the originals are beyond repair.

Anyway, it failed the MOT on the headlights, I replaced the originals with a pair I bought from GSF but they have no beam control so it failed. I've ordered another set from Vintage Warehouse, hopefully these will be OK.

Overall quite pleased, 2 quite simple things to fix.

The high beam doesn't stay on - the relay faulty perhaps? We had it with the westy, high beam would flash but not switch over low to high..new relay & its sorted

  4. Agreed if that is the case then its the relay, just didn't want @Keeling54 to waste money on more lights

  5. From what he said the MoT guy wasn't happy with the cut off of the throw of light. Poor optics by the sounds of it.

  6. so poor quality lights then?

Internally within the light there should be a shroud that covers the top of the H4 lamp, this provides a flat edge to the top of the beam of light from the head light. The lights I bought from GSF and the original set I bought from ebay don't have this so the lighting effect from the headlight is like turning on a torch. I checked the original US versions that I removed and they are fitted with them.

The relay was fine, high and low beam work a treat but on both settings they are blinding to oncoming vehicles.

Another set ordered, hopefully the correct type this time, should get them tomorrow.

Steering arms replaced today, they were pretty bent, no wonder the tyres were screeching down the road.

They sometimes pick the van up with a forklift to load in a container and that does the arms

  10. These handling agents.............. what a bunch of Wan$%^'s:mad:
They did a similar thing to my Beetle in Durban docks, towed it by the anti roll bar and pulled it off the car!!

Yay....got an MOT certificate today for the poo bus. Registration forms completed and sent, looking forward to the V5 now.

  13. Hi Keeling 54,

I'm hopefully sending my import for MOT next week, what forms do I need to send off once it's MOTD to get it registered ?

    Regards Mike

I got a pack from the dvla and sent them back the V55/5 form together with the mot, registration and road tax payment, proof of address and who you are, pink slip, confirmation import duty has been paid and proof of date of arrival in the uk. I think that's the lot.

Didn't get much done today as I had a tree to chop down and a lot of running around with the kids, my new favourite power tool is a chainsaw, they are brilliant.

Anyway manged to get the propane tank and pipework stripped out, what a pig of a job, who ever put it in decided to use domed head bolt which were 2" longer than they actually needed to be and just spun on the hole when I put a spanner on the nut. Couldn't get a grinder in there so ended up drilling them out. If anyone want a propane cylinder, valves and a bit of pipe, you can come and collect it.
