My 75' Panel Restoration (my first bus!!!)

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Kenzie, Aug 11, 2011.

  1. Stick with it basic cover or shelter should be possible to pick up or make. What's another year in the long run of things?

I was spoilt with a shed but it was an hour drive away. Motivation was sometimes an issue. On Saturday it passed its mot and I am buzzing for next summer to get camping! Worth it in the end and not worth selling a project IMHO

  2. I might have to look at selling this now. We are looking to move next year and might not have space to have it at home. It's at a friends house at the mo but I can't keep it there forever!

  3. Not selling now. My wife really wants this done. Just had a window seal kit arrive from Custom and Commercial. First job is to get it water tight.

Any picture updates on the bus so far? Glad your keeping the bus too

  12. Still no new pics. Been so busy with work and what not that I haven't been to the van.

  13. Can anyone recommend a heavy duty cover? I have tried the tarp sheets and they just fall apart after a while. Maypole do a cover but its more of a dust sheet than anything else. I need something that is waterproof.

  14. Hello all, long time no see! I know things have been really quiet on this resto but a lot has been going on at work and we hve finally bought a house. This means a double length car port. The bus is finally home where I can get on with it. It has been at a friend's house for the last eight years.... But time to get things moving.

  15. I picked up some wheel dollys last year at a car boot sale and just needed two wheels to complete them. Now thats done I have slipped them under the van I can now pull it sideways in the carport to allow me easy access to the other side. I've been cleaning up some surface rust that has appeared since I last worked on it as it was stored outside. Now safe and tucked away in the dry. [IMG]

  16. I'm still at it! I hav been poking around underneath with a screwdriver, wirebrush and a scraper. Found a few extra holes but generally not too bad. While I was underneath I noticed that the tophats don't meet the sill on the left hand side, surely they should meet?

I will definately need a new sill for the sliding door side as its rotten at both ends. I'm going to try and keep as much original metal as possible rather than when I first started out and cut out more than I needed to.

Top hats should meet the sill, it looks like it’s had a sill repair/cover up panel put on, hence the square gap, cut out where it would fit around the end of the top hat, my guess is someone has trimmed down the top hats though to make it look tidier!
