My 74 Westy Import

  1. We picked up the Shatsuma from a small place near Detroit and drove it over 500 miles and through 5 states to Washington DC. It broke down on the way due to a faulty alternator and so after being towed to the local bango playing hick town garage in Pennsylvania and sleeping in it the very first night on their forecourt it was a welcome relief to finally get it into the container and shipped to dear old blighty. It is totally stock and was an original campmobile conversion. I have taken out the cabinets and sold them to Poptop as he wanted the fridge so now we have plenty of space, I will refit a proper interior once the boys have stopped using it as a playhouse in the garden. It has a 1800 typeIV fitted which has a single carb at the moment as installed by the PO, I am on the lookout for some twin carbs so if you have anything let me know.

    Here are some pics:

  5. Thanks.

When you see it in the flesh you will realise why the pics are taken from so far back. The name Shatsuma also came about from the finish of the paintwork in places.

  6. Wicked colour and lovely looking bus fella

  7. Very nice bus. I was hoping to find an orange or green one myself but I somehow wound up with a beige one. :-
Anyway, 2 questions- The center picture with Shatsuma parked next to the green bus. How was that taken? Or how was it manipulated? It's a gorgeous photo and I can't make out how it was done. It's driving me nutz.
Secondly, I'm from Detroit and I'm just curious to know where you found your bus, if you remember. Thanks- BW
