Work's been mad recently, I work shifts and to compound things have two sons aged 4 and 2 to entertain so I've not really got stuck in recently. I've got a couple of days soon to waxoyl the back end as due to the chassis mods there's a bit of exposed metal there which won't go well with the road-salt this time of year.

Then I need someone to check out all the gas so I can get the fridge, hob and propex fired safely...it never ends does it?!! ;)

  13. Hi folks, I thought I'd bring this thread back from the dead and give a little progress report.

Well I'm glad to say it's been used a bit over winter especially in the coldest week of the year when my skoda had some issues. The nuts and bolts side of it have been absolutely fine which is testament to Rob Judge's work at RNJ Motorsport (he's got a lovely late bay in at the moment), all I've done is adjust the clutch as the biting point was basically on the floor, it's amazing what a difference a couple of turns of a wingnut can make.

The next step is the interior, particularly the gas/electric side of things, now I'm a complete newbie to this side of things as this is my first bus after years of smaller aircooled models...and gas scares me! A bit of sun and trips to big bang and stanford have renewed my vigour to crack on...and fortunately I have two good friends down the road who have a lot more knowledge on this side of things than me, art b (on here) and ady sharpe. So of I popped round to theirs last sunday with the intention of helping ady get the engine back in his wedge, luckily attention soon turned to my bay.

It's been sat with a gas bottle in it since I got it so the chaps got stuck in checking and modifying some of the connections as well as the waste pipe from the fridge which was a bit of a mess, it turned out there was a bit of gas left in the bottle and we had ignition...a fully working gas hob. The gas ran out before we got to fire up the fridge but we're hopeful that looks good to go. Next step is to sort the propex which is an old model but seems ok in theory, we (they) just need to work out which wires go where.

I hit 40 (!) next week and have asked for a new leisure battery as a present, there appears to be a split charge relay already in place so we'll see what does what, I'm quite excited!
I'll get some dull pics up soon especially for the old propex which we might need some help with.

art if you're reading this I got that panel off and went with the dowel option...now fits a treat and is easily removeable!;)

  14. So it's been a good week of tinkering, window mechanism replaced, passenger wing mirror and quarterlights sorted...and after a few connection issues the new leisure battery's in and we have illumination inside, my mechanical talent is somewhat lacking so I'm quite chuffed...

  15. Next mission is to give the old propex unit a once over but all the connections look good so far. I've got my mojo back...which is nice.:)

  16. hey mr t.... looking good,
when you get your gas bottle pop round and we WILL get the propex running..:)

  17. Remember the switches at the rear (the wire earthed to wood?)...well one of them does indeed go to the propex, once the leisure battery was in I hit the switch and the propex came to life, I'm assuming it still had a bit of gas left in the pipes as it then died...better get some gas in the old girl, looking good at the mo, thanks again for your help mate.:)

  18. Fit bus mate ,well fit !

  19. nice one
as i thought.... it was interesting to find the switch, earthed to the wooden cabinet ...o_O
does tend to make ya wonder about some people ..
it sounds like, theres not much up with the propex either...:)
