You can see on the one over rider I've cut it to fit my deluxe trim under it.

  2. One update I forgot to mention, thanks to Kevin Charlie white my scruffy draw is now fixed he re-laminated it useing a pice of laminate I saved from Chug chug:-

Its the draw with the grey handle, I will get new handles when I get round to finding someone who sells black ones.

  3. ]I was going to work on Milly today but spent all day on my M8's Peugeot Partner it wouldn't start it turned out it was the glow plug relay module £112.00 thank you very much just for the part.

Anyway my wiper spindle grommets turned up today & thats my first job tomorrow.
    Old one:-

    New ones:-

  4. Finally got my wipers fitted, with the new grommes in place. After a bit of a fuss I even got them to park in the right place everytime.

My dash is all back together now so I'm happy about that.

  5. Started to fit my Deluxe trim, Lot of work, I started by working out how many clips to use per piece & where each piece goes.
measured the middle of each panel & measured in 30mm from the outside edge. I used the rin gutter as a reference point & drew a line down to the centre point of the buldge. I then marked it all out right around the bus.
The next job was to stick on the clips & check their aligmment. I found that I needed to drop them all by a few mm so the line fell inside the top clip groove. After doing this it worked out well I just had to leave the adhesive dry over night.

  6. ]I stuck all the trim on today & am pleased to say it lines up well. The only issue is the rear corners which aren't quite curved enough, these pulled the clips off so I'll have to have a think about it try something else:-

  7. Oh yea bought a Haynes manual on Fleabay for £3.00 the last one got burned in Chug Chug.

  8. Right I wasn't 100% happy with the chrome trim so I pulled it all off againdrilled the frontmost hole & ran a string line to the back pinged it & it left a nice blue chalk line all the way down the side, I then drilled a hole for every clip 77 of them.

I then sprayed waxoyl on the holes & riveted 3.2mm rivets on to hold the clips. now it looks awsome, the trim stits flush on the body work & I know its not going to fall off. The only trouble I cant get the corners to fit as the shape seems wrong, I'll have to phone them on Monday to check I got the right ones. :?

  10. Went to fit my No. plate but there are only two holes in the engine lid, different to Chug Chug so I need to find a different way to fit the plate:-
    [IMG]

  11. Decided this morning to fit my rear Jail bars, now the standard instructions arn't very good so I decided to do my own:-
    [IMG]

First jpb is to open the rear hatch & move the curtains & rail out of the way (If you have them). Put a piece of masking tape on the metal under the window rubber around the middle of the panel.

Measure from edge to edge of the hatch & mark the centre. Now measure from one side to the centre & then the other. Your mark should be an equal distace from the end.

I made it exactly 24" You can use metric or inches but I've chosen inches because it was exactly 48" from edge to edge.

When your happy place the centre bar in possition & mark out its hole positions, now drill out the holes with a 2.5mm drill bit.

Now you can remove the masking tape.

Make sure to protect the area from rust developing by coating with wax (Waxoyl or similar)

You can now screw your centre bracket in place, make sure you use a good fitting screw driver to avoid damageing the screws, in my case this was a No.2 Philips driver.

  12. You will notice that the two bars are slightly different lengths.

The short one goes at the top of the glass (with the tail gate closed) so fit these now.

Measure from the bottom edge of the glass aperture to the centre of the jail bar, you will note that it is exactly 3"

This distance must be the same at either end. again put making tape on the bit your marking, if its out adjust acordingly.

Once you've marked the holes & drilled you can remove the masking take before wax protecting & fixing in possition.

If you don't use masking take & the drill goes in to far you'll damage the paint work, luckily for me I only damaged the take.

Once the bottom bar is done do the same to the top bar again there is a 3" gap between the top & bottom bars. Once finished the bars should be parallel & level all the way from one end to the other, you can then admire your handy work:-
    [IMG]

  13. With the side Jail Bars no instructionsat all were given so its a case of working it all out.
I remember with Chug Chug I tried to keep the same height as the rear but to me they always looked a bit shallow, so I decided to disregard the rear ones & fit them at the angle I would like.
One obstacle in the way is the rear seatbelt, so I've brought the bars further back to compensate.

    Again mark with masking tape.

Once I fitted the longest bar it was just a case of spaceing the shorter bar 3" away, marking & fixing it.

The hard part will be doing the other side for 2 reasons:-
1.) It needs to be symetrical.
2.) There is a cupboard in the way which may stop the fitment alltogether.

  14. Because the jailbar brackets have covered up the holes for the curtain tiebacks 've had to drill 2 new ones so thats done.

I decided as I'm off out in the bus tomorrow I want to fit my new No. plate.
First I got to get the old adhesive off.

Useing this stuff which doesn't damage the paint.

After a bit of elbow grease.

Put some tape on the new plate.

    & stuck it on.

I also fitted my new GB badge.

Looks the part now, just got to sort out my rear bumper.

  15. All the cabinates of my Westy have a t-trim edgeing in black around the edges, the Californian sun has caused it to shrink & buckle. I discovered today that if you remove it, soak it in very hot water you can strech it. You can then tweak it useing the heat from a hair drier, You can heat up the kinks adjust them & then blow cold air over them the get them to stay in shape I've done this with 3 parts now & its worked well. Its a pain in the arse but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end.

As you can see the trim is shrunk & very short.

After a bit of heating & streching its now too long, I'll leave it a while to see if it creeps back if not I'll trim it flush.

This is how the trim looks before any treatment.

  16. Took Milly out for a cruise today on about 120 mile trip the bus ran faultlessly even without my front bumper fitted, it was a bit dold tough so I got to get the heating sorted soon:-

  17. Was supposed to go for a spin yesterday but after reversing out of the garage & turning around the bus cut out, I couldn't get her to start. Pulled all the plugs & cleaned them they were all sparking & looking good but I didn't seem to have any fuel, put 2 can fulls in & it was still the same. Eventually I traced the fault to teo kinked rubber pipes & a blocked fuel filter that looks like its from the 80's. Decided to fit a new canister filter & new fuel hoses, I bought longer ones so I could divert the fuel filter up out of the way & have no kinks, unfortunately the contents of the petrol tank went all over my head & I found myself blind deaf in one ear & feeling like someone had kicked my head in, fortunatly my Neigbour Erik dragged me from under the bus & lead me to my kitchen, after 10 minutes of running water over my head I could see, I had a shower & cleaned out my left ear loads, & its OK now, I left it untill 11.00 PM then after a bit of pursuasion from a couple of M8,s & my missus I went to Singleton where they checked me out. Up till 8.00PM I had a green strip accross my vision but now thats gone, doctor gave me the all clear just told me to stay away from drafts etc. They put some orange dye in my eyes so for a while everything had an orange haze. I slept well & now my eyes are a bit swollen all my face & head are red & I got a ringing in my left ear.
The good news is the bus is now running sweet & I'm still intact. I won't be doing that again.

  18.
