  1. Took off my mains hook up point & rewired it with UK (european harmonized) 230V basec twin & earth cable. This is coloured Brown Live (white or hot in the USA) & Blue neutral (black in the USA) this will run straight to a fuse board comprising of 2 MCB's (Minature Circuit Breakers) both MCB's will be 16A one will feed the mains chargeing unit the other the 230V 3 pin socket outllet & an RCD (Residual Current Device) ratted to a trip of 30mA. I sleaved the bare copper core with yellow/green sleaving this is my earth or CPC (Circuit Protective Conductor) this is manditory in the UK to meet the current 17th eddition wiring regs.

The supply in the UK is 50Hz (it switches 50 times per second) in the USA its 60Hz. also our Neutral is the same potential as the earth but our Live has a potential of 230V so if you get an electric shock its a big one, thats why an RCD must be used. In the USA the earth is centre tapped so the live & neutral both have a 55V potential (55 + 55 = 110V) so the risk of death from electric shock is much smaller.
Anyway here are a few pics:-

Painted the outside Satin Black the centre will be covered with a silver sticker reading as follows:-

THIS CONNECTION IS FOR 3 WIRE
    230vOLT ac 50 hZ (cYCLES)

My leasure battery has no connection to the chassis of the vehicle so the split charge circuit won't work so I bought this:-
    [IMG]

You could see te copper so I sleaved it to make it look a bit nicer with heat shrink:-
    [IMG]

I also bought a 12V fuse box so I can fuse each circuit:-

  2. Final job for today, I got the 2.5 T&E through to under the seat & the hook up point fitted back on:-
    [IMG]

Bought this from B&Q today so I can stick on my deluxe side trim I can't wait:-
    [IMG]

  3. Got my two new batteries today so they'll be fitted tommorow after work hopefully:-

Main batter is an 096 72Ah 680A cranking
    [IMG]

Leasure battery is a 678 85Ah Maintenence free
    [IMG]

  4. Drove down Oxwich today for some pics I'll post these later on but on the way I spotted this little winner, I knocked the guys door but there was no answer:-

  5. Called in my local TLC electrical wholesalers today & picked up this little beaty its the same dimentions as the old on its a Hager IU4 Invicta Enclosure picked up a 63A 30mA RSC & 2 20 type B MCB's all for about £60.00 only thing I need which realised when I got home is a neutral bar.
One fuse will power my double socket the other will power my Mains Charging unit.

  6. Made some alloy l-shaped brackets rivitd them to my Dist board & fitted the distboard, it will have to come off again to wire it up but it looks good, there is a gap all around but its hardly noticeable & wont cause any problems, rivets are purposly not in line to avoid the factory welds on the enclosue:-

  7. Right here goes, decided where to put the unit, marked & drilled the holes & then fitted the unit, the instructions supplied are very good so I don't really need to do a how too, the only advice I'd give is to think very carefully before you drill any holes, I marked mine, checkaed &double checked & the effor was worth it I'm happy with where the holes come out underneath.:-

  8. Fitted the termostat/control unit & ruted the wire to the propex, just got to connect it to my new 12V lesure fuseboard now, I'll do the gas pipes tomorrow & hopefully it will be working before I go camping tomorrow night.

Done the work down my brothers unit because of the rain. I also started wiring up the dist board.

There is a T25 outside thats used everyday as a work horse, the guys ha it for years & told me he'll never sell it:-
    [IMG]

There is also a 1967 1500 Beetle outside which is being worked on:-

  9. I have been playing with the electrics so I can get all of the leasure stuff working as I want.
I'd like to park up in the middle of nowhere & run all my 12V stuff (Fridge, interior lights, radio etc.) off the leasure battery. I'd also like to use mains electric up to 16A off an inverter.
When the batery goes flat I'll start the engine & the leasure battery will charge through the split charge relay from my altinator.
I'd also like to be able to plug in to a mains hook up & still run all my stuff 12V & have mains, but I want the mains to charge my leasure battery.
I've fitted a mini consumer unit with a 16A MCB supplying the double socket wired with 2.5 3 core flex. My next purchace will be a Zig X80 charger:-
    [IMG]
    Specs:-
    Rated input voltage - 198-264

    Max wattage 220W
    Output voltage 13.8v

    Current limit 16.5A
    Dimensions: 228(L) x 91(H) x 114mm(W)

This will replace the USA 110V charger I have removed & its about the same size.

  10. This is how far I've got:-

The socket s wired up, I'm going to get a better colour one soon, the camper has a zig unit already but it only feeds the fridge & monitors the battery condition.
I've removed the light because I'm trying to get a cable down to the 12V auxillary fuse board so it runs from the leasure battery & not the main battery.

  11. So far my Propex installation is going well, Simon is coming down to give me a hand soon with the plumbing:-
I marked out the hole using the provided trmplate:-

  12. My wipers packed in a couple of weeks ago but when I checked I could hear the motor turning, I tried to investigate but I couldn't really see anything so I decided to whip the dash top off:-

While I had the dash out I decided to see why my clock doen't light up at night, I found out I had a lamp out so I replaced it, then I noticed that there is a provision for a lamp behind theheater leaver symbols, so I'm going to get a lamp holder & a lamp & wire it in that way that will lght up at night too.

Finally I noticed that the plastic gear cog is all chewed & I'll need to replace it, the good news is that everything behind the dash is as good a new & its all been waxoyled so should stay like it.

  13. This is the tow bar off Chug Chug, I had to reweld the electric hook up bracket back on co it got bent during the transport of the burnt shell, my M8 Dean got it shot blasted & plastic coated for me. Ceers Dean.

Wiring nearly finished just a bit more tidying up & cliping, got my Propex vents fitted because of other equipment I had to offset the two of them, the bottom one is warm air out & the top is fresh air in.:-

  14. Got my new wiper motor from GSF today, brand new German made £25.00 FBI wanted £65 for a second hand one

  15. Well the GSF wiper motor didn't fit, but superbeetle91 kindly doneted a spare one to me (Cheers pal), it looks right I was going to fit it today but its to cold so I'll do it on my next day off Thursday, I can put all my dash together then so that will cheer me up a bit:-

  16. Lee the previous owner has sent me the old heat exchanger bits because there are J-tubes fitted at the moment, my plan is to remove these & get the heating system working as it should be. I'll replace what I can & repair what I can't:-

  17. We'll I've been trying for ages to get a set of over riders for a bay window, got a set for Chug Chug which I never got around to fitting so they will now go on Milly, the trouble is although I bought 4 2 were doublers, so I bot another pair, between 6 I got 3 useable ones so I'm still 1 short, anyway they will need some serious modification to fit over my deluxe trim but I'm going for it & hopefully they will be on & looking good by the nes year. :D
