@mikedjames and? Get yourself on this forum! I haven't. I know diddly squat ....... Edit: ... although the forum doesn't seem too lively! I've failed to get beyond registering maybe it's an intelligence test to weed out dilettantes like me?
The sheer number of misleading popups, video, and junk advertising on following that link was stunning. I think I will poke it with a long stick ...
Right so just opened their forum tab that was fine yesterday and started getting those pop ups, so I don't know what goes on there ..... Perhaps a little look at arm's length then? by searching "Riversimple Rasa" and starting with newspaper articles?
Small company trying to set up a new model for personal transport that isn't "car ownership" and which is therefore in the interests of all parties to be as sustainable as possible ... and the, ahem, "vehicle" for that is a hydrogen cell + four in-wheel motors + large capacitors to squeeze 50% regen from braking for acceleration ........ Gets away from large batteries which is what piqued my interest at any rate
That's the influence of the Lotus engineer they've got on board .... Their "forum" is supposed to be for people to pitch in with their insights, technical or otherwise. You should get on there and give them a link to your posts on ratemypoo.com At the moment it's a rather limited number of, (in some cases), self proclaimed experts. I think they realise that 16 years down the line they need to see how it's going to fit in the real world ... where, when, and why to people travel. They've been in a bit of a bubble, so have forgotten that your average "city car" or local commuter box doesn't really need to be high-end-aerodynamic for example ... and needs SOME storage space at least. Talk is of a small four seater, and a small-business/trades platform. Sound familiar?!
Thanks for that. Sounds very interesting. Hasn't there been something similar with 'bolt-on' electric motors on the wheels but normal batteries? If the two could be combined, bolt-on motors and hydrogen cells plus infrastructure, we'd be in business!
Not heard about the bolt-on ... They went for four wheel drive partly to do away with the weight of transmission components I think, and also (though I don't know enough about this to know if it's "true") to get much more regen fed back to the capacitors? Have to admit what I'm doing this minute is more my thing, even if it's not in my comfort zone ....... yet
Sadly looks like their website has been hacked or they are paying for it with popup ads and those ads are causing the problems.
Got there following a link from Google .. This vehicle really shows how pathetic Lithium battery powered cars are. Batteries will not get much better and will remain massive packages to haul around. Why pay for energy to drag 1000kg of batteries around when a fuel tank weighs so much less , for often only about 100kg of payload .
