Hi All, Been a while since I've posted and the resto is still well underway, does anyone know of anyone in the Bedford area that supplies welding gas MIG welders, also in a not completely unrelated note, what is required to convert the larger canisters to fit on the small tubes that run to the welder? I've been using the little disposable bottles up until now but it's getting a bit ridiculous with the amount I'm going through. Cheers, Brad
Get a contract with BOC for Y size bottles of Argoshield Light, good value and good gas. There are BOC depots all over the place so its easy to get more when you run out.
Another option is to find your local Hobbyweld stockist. It suited me as I go long periods between welding so didn't want a contract.
I recently bought a 120 litre rent-free SGS Argoshield 5% argon/CO2 bottle from Motor Parts Direct in Milton Keynes. It was around £170 of which the refundable deposit was £90. Weld quality is a lot better than using the disposable bottles. Search for 'SGS gasses' online and you might find a stockist nearer to home. Sent from my SM-T813 using Tapatalk
Poke around inside your welder, find and fit a bulkhead adaptor from the push fit thin pipe to some standard ? 1/4 inch barb. Get some hose. Get a regulator. I ended up with BOC Argoshield Lite in small bottles (50 minutes a refill) instead of under 10 minutes with disposable. But I changed up on the last bottle exchange to the Y bottle. Which you can still carry but lasts ages, several hours. BOC not cheap but convenient.. pay for gas, rent bottle .
How much do you pay Mike? I pay £29 a bottle for Y size Argoshield Light, which I think is pretty cheap.
