Mdf cabinets

  1. Just wondering what you guys do to ur cabinets that you make for ur bays?
Just built them out of mdf so what should i do? Wrap? Spray? Hand paint?
What have you done to yours??

  2. An interesting question - I will embark on the project in 2022. Do you have some photos?
I previously had a T5 with mdf cabinets that I wrapped. Looked great, but scratched relatively easy. Would not recommend wrapping on the counter top.

  4. I wonder how Raptor paint will look on mdf.
I spray the frame of my bay with, and ended up with a slight finish.
I used a spray gun with 2.5 or 3.0 tip and a bit of pressure. Finish is nice and could worth a try to test it on cabinet.

I bought as a kit for just over£300 with postage ( cos I couldn’t be arsed with the faff of working out correct sizes)
But if anyone wants to do themselves im more than happy to give detail drawings with measurements and angles for you to get couple sheets of 12mm mdf and cut urself and save money

  7. Great job mate - it is similar to the one I had in my T5 - avoid wrapping the tops!

  10. Thanks!

  11. I had the same stuff. I used some cellulose sanding sealer, otherwise any paint you put on will soak straight in.
Then I had Avenue coatings match a Dulux colour in some satin rustoleum and rollered it on with gloss rollers. It looks ok.
I have more than enough sanding sealer left if you need some, you are welcome to it. You are also welcome to pick it up and have a look at my interior at the same time.

What did you do with the worktop??

  13. I've just painted it for now. I was hoping to stick some laminate on it, but it's on the list with 100000 things in front of it.

  15. It's a few years ago now but I'm pretty sure that I used paint sold specifically for painting MDF kitchen cabinets.

Hi @Andyr7 i have the same units as you and there is a bit of reshaping to do with the unit that goes over the wheel arch, and also the unit that goes on over the engine I found that you need to make the slot for the tailgate slightly bigger and also reshape the shelf inside.
