As a delivery driver , I feel like I really should be wearing a mask as I’m approaching peeps at their doors and just doing my tiny little bit. I did a delivery the other day to a very well known (chain) infant care centre and they insisted that I wear a mask before I delivered to them so they supplied me with a disposable blue / white papery type thing which was kind. When I went in with the delivery, no one in there was wearing a mask apart from me ??? I thought that it was a two way thing? And no one stopped the kids from mobbing me and asking dafty questions like they do, hhmmmm. I know this was a disposable mask but I gotta say it was horrible on my mooosh, I wore it for the rest of the day whenever I got out of the van, but it tickled my stubble no end and fell down or rode up and was just an irritant whenever it was on. By the end of the day it didn’t half pong, which says a lot about my breath in general, just lucky it wasn’t yesterday because I’d had a rather strong garlic sausage chopped up in my sarnies.
    Anyway,, I digress (again).
What I wants to know is,,, what masks are comfortable to wear on and off all day whilst doing slightly heavy ish work, no one wants to get to the door out of puff or sweating visibly now do they, just not good for the machismo is it. Are there any funky looking ones about that might make me a tad handsomer than I already am? ( impossible you may think ) (or any mask ) maybe.Or am I just having to accept that a mask is indeed my saving grace? There’s a market here for unusual or funky ones.

    Ozziedog,,,,,personalised ones ?

Waiting for this to arrive from the Bay of E. Never worn one before and I wear glasses so it'll be an unusual experience next time I go to a supermarket.

They are very easy to make out of a hanky and a couple of laccy bands. Why waste good money!

  4. Although we are now being bullied into wearing them, the science is still out on masks. Ask 5 scientists and you'll get 5 different answers on how effective they are and that will range from some saying they give 80% protection to 0% protection. We should have done this in March or even February and even then, the science was still all over the place. I went to a wll known garden centre today in Bicester so I thought i'd put one on as I went inside. People were coming out the door near where I went in with no masks. I kept it on but by the time I got half way around the shop, I had to take it off because I nearly passed out from the heat. Virtually no one inside was wearing one, I'd say 10 or 15%. Outside, no one had one on. Saying all that, the place was very spaced out and people were polite and moved away when I came into an isle and I did the same. Americans are obsessed with them and won't listen to any other views about them only what's in their own head which is fear.

I’m more thinking about bandana style sort of Wild West type of thing, maybe go ultra machismo and have the Milky Bar Kid on it or similar.

  6. No different than asking 5 mechanics or Vw Enthusiasts about what to do, each has an opinion.

  7. The problem is people are believing this is safe and that bloody annoying new expression/buzzword "the new normal" is being accepted especially for the hard of thinking. It's a slippery slope. What's next? And before anyone says "it's the law and you'll be fined " it actually isn't the law and shops cannot issue fines to people.

  10. Saying everything that I've said, some people need to wear face coverings. Less of a shock for others.

  11. I agree with most of the "Disgruntled from......" points but think that the main reason is to stop slobber travelling from the infected and that's the best way of protecting us uninfected (!?) just wish the bleeding obvious was put into place firmly and in a timely fashion. All this screeching handbrake turn malarkey is getting on my proverbials!

  12. Telling people what to do would require leadership and taking responsibility. Two things of which there is an significant shortage of these days...

Can’t blame others for lack of leadership & responsibility. Just look in the mirror, if you can’t find it there then there’s no hope.

The day people stop blaming others for their lack of L&R....

This isn’t a dig at you, I’m just sick of everyone blaming everyone else!!

It’s what the mask “refuseniks” are calling anyone who has decided they will do as asked and wear a mask from the 24th.

  20. It would be a really useful idea to let everyone know via a govt tv broadcast exactly what the evidence is for masks to keep people safe is. They can't because they can't agree
