Marge's Restoration

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by jedi_stylie, Nov 26, 2011.

  1. Hello all,
Sadly I lost the thread of Marge's restoration when the site had that little meltdown, so I'm starting it up again so I can keep getting you all up to date (if you care) and I can scrounge info and advise (if you don't mind)

So there is a lot to say, but I'll let the pics do the talking.

FYI; Marge is a '73 originally built for the American market. She was then imported into the UK in 82 where she has been ever since. She had a scooby engine conversion which didn't work out, she is now running a 1800 type 4.

    When we bought her:

Sorry for the immense pic content.. (could've added a lot more lol)

Next step is to build the units. I'm currently collecting all the bits (cooker, fridge, sink etc..) to build everything as efficiently as poss.

    Hope you like ;D

  2. Wow, Marge is gorgeous!!! :-* 8)

I love the colour and can't wait to see what you're going to do with the interior. The more photos the better please ;D

Were you at vanfest 2006 in it?

If you were then i talked to you as you camped next to us and your son drew a picture of my bus

It'll be a simple thing causing the misfire no doubt! Hopefully you'll sort it :)

  7. Yeah probably!
Not sure when the plugs were last done so though; do the whole lot while I'm there 8) Everything that comes off looking OK will then go in the 'emergency breakdown' box lol

    Nice bus, killer interior!!

Notice you too the air intake covers off - as in the first set of pics - how come? (am asking as there was a good discussion on the merits of something similar a while ago on here!)

  16. You've made it look really easy :)) Very nice job O0

Question did you cut and reweld the front badge bump or dent it in and fill over the top ?

  18. Hey all,

    Done a bit today.

Started by setting out the main kitchen unit on the floor to make sure the fridge and cooker work next to eachother, which thankfully they do!

So with all this in mind I set about designing the unit on Google SketchUp:

I literally have 3mm spare in the whole thing so its going to be super tight!!

I don't yet have the sink but I know the one I'm getting and its 300mm radius and 100mm deep. I have to recess the sink down as I want to have complete closure on top with a hinged worktop, if I didn't the tap would clash.

  19. Thank you sir :)

Nearly finished the main kitchen unit design 8)
