Manifold boot replacement 1600 engine

  1. Has anyone done this without taking everything off? I'm struggling to see how I can get the old ones off and the new ones in position...

  2. you can replace these by loosening/removing the end castings either side, and the central locating nut/bolt (if fitted), together with any obvious obstacles (air filter rubber, fuel pump/lines etc....the carb and manifold will pivot downwards and slide far enough in either direction to replace the boot (s)....depending on the carb, you may have to remove this also.....in short, it's a 'needs must' job.....so see if there's anything else that you may want to check/replace at the same time...more often than not, it saves time and future hassle to bite the bullet...new cylinder to manifold gaskets should be used

  4. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

When you put it back together, I would highly recommend the empi fibre manifold/head gaskets, they never leak. Trim them with scissors to match the outer shape of the manifold so they don't get caught on the tin.
