  1. Think Bush said God told him to end the tyranny in Iraq.

maybe those great scientific minds could prove without doubt that there is no life after death and human life was the result of an alien stopping off on earth for a toilet break
of course many religious zealots and nuts will commit suicide but that the price to pay - then muslims will cease fighting with muslims/jews/christians . Scientologists , johovahs witnesses moron and many others will cease to exist , the great northern Ireland divide will be pointless ,even celtic and rangers fans will get along

  3. I'm avoiding crowds from now on. This is the worst thing I've seen in the UK. Actively targeting children. FFS. You can keep your hug a jihadi PC talk. Koran 9:29.

To me it's blowback for us arming and training all those religious nut cases in Libya and Syria in order to knock out the secular governments there. They're now coming back (tail between legs), trained in bombs and guns, and they really do hate us.

Muslims, Christians etc in Syria are glad to see the back of them. They've had this non stop for years. We did it to them.

Who is doing this "hug a jihadi PC talk"? I can't think of one person doing this.

  5. This thread has taken some strange turns, I'm just very saddened by the whole Manchester thing, the targeting of kids by terrorists is extremely wicked. I'm not sure what else to say.

I'm obviously a minority on here as I get some comfort and peace from going to church, not necessarily that regular but I do spend at least one morning a month maintaining the church bells, hopefully that doesn't make me a nutter in everyones eyes.

Peace and love folks, btw that doesn't mean that we shouldn't hunt down the people who seek to harm us.

Not at all. My in laws are regular church going Christians. They know that I'm not a believer. We don't really talk about it, we just get along fine. Not an issue either way.

  7. And that should be the way it is ... no need for name calling, finger pointing and all the other unpleasantness, there's enough already in the world without us adding to it. Its funny actually the vicar changed his holiday plans so he could do our wedding, nice guy.

Too many wars are fought in the name of religion or cultural difference.
Most of it is about power and wealth.
In business the most money I have been shafted out of (£ 43k) was by a church going type (the ones that pay part of their wage into it every month)
There can be no excuse for what happened.
As for blowing yourself and others to bits WTF

You don't need any religion to live by the ethos of treating others as you would wish to be treated yourself.
I don't believe that in the 3000 or more years humans have been on this earth that there's any conclusive proof by anyone that there's something else afterwards, there's significant portions of my life I can't remember when I was awake, pretty much none when I've been asleep, hence my belief is that when you're dead you're dead, no ecstasy involved!
Pitty that there seems to be enough poor souls around who think otherwise to spoil it for the rest of us.

    True story
I changed my wedding day because of Chelsea
I was due to get married on 14th February 1979, Chelsea were playing West Ham away, my mates put pressure on me to change the date so we could go to Upton Park, the Vicar kindly changed the date, Chelsea lost 4-0 and my marriage lasted 2 years

I have no problem with people who are religious, as long as they don't try to force their beliefs on me.
I can still remember the massive Protestant / Catholic divide as a child in Scotland and latterly in Melbourne Australia, it was to the point where a couple of friends and I were going through the names of kids who had lived in our street and there was one family which we couldn't name any of the kids, yep they were Catholic and either they weren't allowed to play with us or vice versa.

  18. Religion is in the fabric of everything, even if you don't think so personally . People's beliefs are all around. I'd like to believe in things and have tried but I'm a bit too rational.
Grew up in a mostly catholic part of Liverpool, but went to the local CE church school. Always got grief for being a prody dog, etc. but not a big deal at all, nothing like what I hear about from Glasgow. Thing is my mum was from a Jewish family (she married out). Boy, did I keep that quiet.
