I'm going to remove the optical drive in my mac and put in a new Solid state HD drive using a caddy. I'll install all the apps on that drive and have all the music and photos on the original HD drive making it uberly fast as a macbook air. And not expensive to do either.

...probably nothing to do with the original question mind?!?

  3. i had my first macbook for 4 years and i never once had any issues with it .... i have to use a pc at work and loathe every minute of it ...

  4.
  5. Macs sound so much more stable
And it's that what sells them to me

  6. I swapped from PC to Mac about 3 years ago.

The real problem I found is you suddenly realise that you've been using a load of rubbish for all those years. Then you get hooked and keep buying everything apple. iPhone iPad ibeer iEtc :)

  7. macs do everything with easy, I've never had on crash on me....i've lost loads of photos of my boys growing up thanks to PC's :'(

but yeah you end up buyin everything mac because it lasts I gave my 14 year old my first gen Iphone 2 years ago its still going strong 8) and both my boys us an old Ibook to do their course work on, play youtube etc...bloody brilliant I say

  8. What are these pc laptop users going on about i5? My macbook pro is an i7. :)

My mac lives on our sofa. When you need it you pick it, open the lid and bingo its on. When you dont want it anymore, close the lid. My mac has been 'ON' since i bought it. 6mnths ago. Ive rebooted for updates but for all intent and purposes its been on all that time. Not one blue screen of death. Not one error. I only bought a new one as i felt my older one a 17" macbook got in the way of the telly when it was on my lap. That was 100% reliable too. Its now going in the bus as my busmac. Its still as fast as the day i bought that too. I love em. I think Jim Royle summed it up nicely "Windows? My arse!"

  9. i ve added a poll

  10. you could always get a new mb air on apple finance ;)

  11. Me and mrs lowie had agreed I would wait to get one but I don't like waiting there's a pay in 6 months option on at pc world that's tempting just got to convince mrs lowie of it

  12. And all thing mac book thing is distracting me from getting on with diago
I may threaten industrial action if she still says I have to wait lol

  13. I am a PC software developer. At home I have a HP i7 64 bit with 8GB of RAM and a 1.3TB HD. I switched it on when I first got it and haven't rebooted it since other than for automatic updates which happen seamlessly. I write some quite hairy stuff at home (programming language compilers, serious bittwiddling pedal to the metal database stuff) so put the machine through the wringer and it takes it all in its stride.

  14. voted 8) they are worth the wait mate, or convince the lady you need it for research to the the bus 8)

  15. she s not moveing on this i been out working on diago in protest :))

  16. when i got my 1st macbook i'm sure katie thought it was a waste of money - now she's hooked.

between us we have a macbook air, mini mac, server, i pad and my brother in law took my old macbook off me ... its still going strong.

if you dont want a brand new mac you can get a good 2 year old one for half the price then upgrade in a year or so.

  17. oh diane s sold on having one
if its apple its got to be good is her thoughts on it
its the paying for it thats her problem
but thats why i dont have anything to do with the money in our house ;)
becuse i see ,i want,i just go and buy so she does have to keep hold of the purse strings
or we would be liveing in a cardboard box if i had control of the money
