Michelles brother swears by the Macs, he is currently ditching Microsoft Windows laptops for everything apple!

Had several of both ...I prefer macs. The current macbook is 2 and a half years old and as fast as the day we bought it.

  6. Yep that's what I thinking they work and keep working
Just got to work out the best way to pay for it
The one I am looking at is 999

  7. After having several different PC's I changed to an iMac just over a year ago. I love it. 8)

  8. Don't really get the comments so far because it's realy about which macbook versus which laptop.

For instance i'm running a lenovo i5 m430 dual core with 8 gig memory and a 64bit operating system blah blah
Faster than most macs today, definitely faster than 1.5 years ago and almost half the price i think. Viruses? I have a virus checker and i don't open stuff i don't know about. Software, much broader choice. Windows operating systems do slow down over time, regclen sorts that out..
Macs are nice machines but don't stand up 'bang for buck' wise. I'd not be be swayed by touchy feely no info opinions but check out performance.
    Or
    just get both ;-)

    Cheers

Im looking at the same thing now. My main problem is Macs are twice the price for a third of the memory.

The main problem is when you've lookwd at a mac, everything else seems cheap and nasty!

  15. To be honest this is a hard to explain. You need to live with a mac for a bit and you will be amazed how much more user friendly, elegant. Macs are simply nicer to use, the end.

They update themselves painlessly, can be upgraded easily (I am typing this on a 2 year old Macbook pro which now with a 1 TB hard drive that was a doodle to install). I swapped a HD for a mate on his laptop and it was a colossal pain in the arse. Cloning the drive takes 2 clicks on a mac, a degree in computing on a PC. The user experience is simply a world better than any PC I have ever tried. I have to use a PC for work and I curse every time I have to touch the thing.

Macs cost more but provided you can stand the price are just the best. PCs often have a gazillion mega-whotsit specs at modest cost but do slow down with age. Try booting up any old PC and you can cook a meal never mind make a cup of team while you wait for it to get ready. A mac, new or old, will be ready to go before you have the kettle on.

Trouble is, Mac Airs dont have a traditional hard drive making them uber expensive to uprate.

  17. i have a macbook air and the mini mac sever ....

took me months of research to decide what to get - id go for the air over the pro any day

Have you uprated the memory yet though? Even Apple told me it was proper expensive!

  20. the macbook air is used to work on the train and then i can control the server via screen share. i have a 1tb hard drive for files ... the air hard drive literally just runs programs ...
