M-Code says Westy, however she is a Devon.....??

  1. Was wondering if someone may be able to shed some light on this.

I've found my m-code plate and put the details through vw-mplate.com and found out about the birth of Nellie .... all good! :D Is great to found out these details, was very excited putting in all the numbers to find out what she was born as.

However I am confused about one part. Under the colour codes it has a "Remark" of "Westfalia", however Nellie is a Poptop and has the remains of a Devon Conversion sticker behind the passenger seat. Does this make sense to anyone? Just interested to know how these things worked.

Also I can make out a number on the Devon Conversion sticker (not sure what it is off top of my head), can that number be used to get any further information about her?

Thanks for any helpthoughts you may have!

    Is the chassis number right?

  3. Yep, the chassis number matches up fine. So all looks legit

  4. simply means that these were colours used by westfalia at the time, no need to worry mate :)

  5. so all 3 chassis numbers match ? any sign of old orange paint anywhere ?

You would only need to worry if the type code read 9 at the end i.e 2319 and there was a P code. As mentioned it's a remark.

9 is Westfalia Campmobile. Volkswagen made the cut in the roof and reinforced it for Westfalia.

The P code is a conversion code that will have other bits added by Volkswagen for Westfalia.
