Hello, Does anyone know where I can get replacement soft see through rubber/plastic strips that go on the top edge of each glass slat? I have a 1978 Devon Moonraker and mine are really showing their age and are wearing thin and need replacing. I just keep persevering with what is on there, they are the originals after all. All I keep seeing are the louvre windows that are sold nowadays as an after-market cheap louvre insert but never an exact copy of the original Devon ones. If anyone knows who sells them, please let me know. Thanks, Richard
I got some of the black self-adhesive ones a couple of years ago. One has fallen off, although I'm pretty certain I wiped the glass with meths first. They are not too obtrusive though and do the job
I could try to find some clear tube as you say as that is a good suggestion. I am not to keen on black ones as I am trying to keep the van original looking but please can you let me know where you purchased the strips as I may get some in case I eventually lose some others and need replacemeents. It is a shame that there are a lot of retailers selling VW spares but some things they just do not do.
This may be because the plastic strips are not necessarily fitted by Devon, but afterwards by owners. My Devon has no strips of plastic on the louvres, just glass touching glass. And they dont leak.
@78Moonraker Try this; https://www.amazon.com/Jalousie-Louver-Window-Seal-Clear/dp/B002X96LMC Unfortunately need to buy from the States. I looked far and wide and this is all I came up with a few years ago. I thought I could see the seals in the photos in original Devon brochures buts it’s very hard to tell.
That's a close up of my brochure. It's from the Sundowner page, but they look the same as the Moonraker windows. They seem to be clear plastic
Someone used to sell sets of the clear seals, or used to. I bought one years ago. C&C or maybe Schofields? Refurb kits definitely used to exist! Worth having a search.
