  1. Agreed, odd place for rust!

Don't let emotions get the better of you.

Take along someone who knows these busses.

Buy the best you can manage, you can't afford the second best.

  4. Too far, imho, distance works in sellers favour. Don't rush this, nobody on here would want you to regret things. Loads of busses around, you have a great budget, get Zen, dude patience.

PS: I am sure most of us on here, well I will, would be happy to look at a bus for a four pack of our favourite beer and Paypal the fuel.

This is the other bus I've seen (not viewed yet). Its currently going through its UK registration hence SA number plates blurred out in pics. Had restoration work a year ago and they have pictures. I've not contacted for more info yet. Our budget is 15k absolute max. Been looking for some time and it seems any at that budget and under seem to require work of some sort whether it be body work or mechanical or both! Seem to be really limited as a lot of pickups I see are only single cab or are lhd.

  6. Surrey ....

If i recall @stirlingmoz knows the ins and outs of these crew cabs thingies ;)

Indeed, both our buses are left hand drive. I quite enjoy driving them to be honest :D

  13. Both my Bug and Bus are lhd. Met a chap at Stanford who had a very nice/similar US Bug, we both agreed how nice it was to be able to undo nuts and bolts that weren't siezed on.

  16. the vehicle shows as first registered in the uk in January 2019, no mot history at all, taxed until January 2020.

    something is suspect here.

the vehicle has no seat belts, had no registration and no tax or mot prior to January 2019, so could not have been driven legally before January 2019. Probably never been on the road since importation. With no seat belts its not legal now, so could not be test driven. Its been taxed as its mot exempt and now does not have to be mot'd.

if the vehicle was genuinely imported 4 years ago, why has it been sat for 4 years? I am sceptical about the owners claim he works away a lot.

I would walk away from this one.

Someone has spent a few quid on that, and is now asking top dollar for it.
    When was it painted?
That door I'm guessing is knackered.
If you're genuinely interested in it, make sure you have someone with you who knows these things inside out.

  19. I would ask for restoration pictures and ask what welding was done as they might both just be covered in filler and new paint job which wouldn't last long ungaraged in the UK - 2 years and you have a 15K job on.
