  1. Hey all, Just bought my first campervan after 25 years of wanting one! It's a 1973 Westy. Much loved by the previous owner, but in need of some TLC. It's going to be a rolling restoration, sadly don't have the funds to make it mint...yet. But it is rolling and I've already started the restoration!

The last one is a puzzler, turns out the '73 is a random one off year for indicator switches. Up to '72 and '74 onwards are 2 a penny, but '73 are like hens teeth. It works, just doesn't self cancel and I think the MOT man might not like it. Has anyone come across this with their '73? It's the type without the full beam control.

  17. Welcome aboard from Northants:thumbsup:
As for the indicators, the self cancelling is not required in the MOT and anyway is worked by a pin or tab on the back of the steering wheel pushing the stalk back to the middle position. If it doesn't work it can usually be corrected by moving the stalks up the column slightly.

  19. Welcome. Enjoy the bus and don't worry about it being a minter.

  20. Just don't worry about the self canceling indicators, I'd driven my bus quite happily for about 17 years cancelling them myself with my hand. I only found out they were meant to self cancel from something I read on the forum.

You'll have far more important things to worry out.

Come to techenders in September to find out more about how these buses work
