LED lights on my bus

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Purplepantyman, Mar 24, 2012.

  1. Fitted these LED lights on my bus today. :) I got them from maplins. They run on 12v and come with a remote control for different effects. You can choose from red blue or green with remote but also it combines the colours as well to create different effects. You have a choice of chase fade or strobe. They come with a sticky back to them so you can place them where you like but I also used clear silicon to make sure the connections were waterproof and so it stayed in place and didn't fall down with heat or moisture.
You are welcome to take the pee if you like but I think they are pretty cool;)

  7. They look cool, at least you will have no problem finding your bus in a drunken state at a show.

  9. I must mention that Iggle Piggle gave me a hand today. If I don't say this he will only get in a strop with me. You know what he is like :(

  18. that looks fab 8) How do you fit them though, is it just a case of cutting the 240v to 12v thingy off and wiring it in? - I'm sure it's not quite that simple but any tips would be great ;D

  19. Yes its not that simple at the moment I have the lights working on the 240 v adapted down to 12v. But I plan to put on tomorrow a 12v inverter to 240v. You can get these from Halfords or any caravan and camping outlet. I will then fix this in under the rock 'n' roll bed and extend the cables by cutting and inserting extra length in. There is a infrared controller which as long as you mounted near where you can have line of sight from the remote control it will work perfectly fine. Other than that it is really that simple and not too much technical knowledge is required.
In your start-up kit you will have three strips of LED flexible lighting plus joiners plus controller with Infrared & power supply plug socket type similar to mobile phone charger. The back of the flexible LED lighting has a 3M peelable sticky tape which is good but I would suggest for my install you use clear silicon where you can then spread over the joins and it is clear so the lights are not impaired.
