Does anybody know if you can buy a single carburetor for a twin webber, as the carb on the right side of mine is leaking from a hairline fracture at the base of the carb. Or can it be repaired. Or do I have to bite the bullet and buy a new complete twin webber. Thanks
You can buy single Weber carbs from Eurocarb https://www.dellorto.co.uk/ and other Weber carb suppliers.
I've seen single weber carbs on ebay , depends on which side you need but Bedford CA seems to ring a bell ?? I'll have a look later on the laptop... EDIT - Bedford CF . Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
Found this on evil-bay , have seen `em far cheaper but this is the only second hand one i can find at the moment ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184938689886?hash=item2b0f34755e:g:dv8AAOSwT9dgDISm
Good spot by @Lasty - we’re assuming your carbs are ICTs? If you do buy a used one, you’ll need to check the jetting (and give it a good clean).
Will need to double check that they are icts in the morning, and get back to you. It's the right had carb that leaking
Would I be better off going down the brand new route of a twin carb. Or would I be better off down the second had route for a replacement?
Nowt wrong with used, as long as you give them a scrub - they’ll be full of filth. Only things that really wear out on a carb are the spindle bushes, and you can replace those. As above, you’ll likely need to rejet a used one to match the carb you’ve got - just strip the jets out of the old one.
ICTs I find weird in one respect. The way they are designed/cast looks like the fuel line connection could have options but I've only ever seen one type and it forces a tight fuel line bend on the LH carb in a bay window. Can't remember the details, just thinking it could easily be better if one could unscrew the inlet and move it to one of the other options. I could be talking out of the incorrect orifice, I've never fully investigated, I just remember cursing a bit.
There's another variant - ICH. LP used to supply these because he reckoned identical and were cheaper. I might have confused the two in respect to the tight bend situation which could be why nobody but he used ICH carbs on a type-1. Probably explains the option situation with weber using the same castings for different variants.
Think the angle of the dangle was intended for Bedford vans. Could drill'n'tap one of the other bosses, tho'
