  1. Hello again,

A while ago we did some work for a customer who bought a freshly painted van. It was a good looking van with candy red paint.

Under the nice paint there was quite a lot of rot and bad repairs - Mainly to the sills and deformation panel.

We started looking at the crusty areas. The sills looked pretty rough... a quick poke around found the inner and outer sills to be full of filler, the deformation panel and lower inner front panel rotten were rotten, and the cargo floor didn't look great:

Started cutting the rot out, and found the inner B posts needed replacing as well as the outer, and the front top hat was rotten:

We ended up cutting the whole floor out as there were lots of sections needing repairing, and it made access to the other top hats and outriggers / jacking points easier:

The drivers middle sill pretty much fell out:

The whole front top hat required replacement, and both outriggers / jacking points also needed to be replaced... They were cut out:

    Same at the back:

  2. Trial fit of inner B post, outrigger, and closing panel ready for the sills:

New sills in place, and closing panel spot welded to top hat to look factory:

Repaired, rust treated, and ready for paint and the cargo floor:

Outer sill replaced, and spot welded in position. Here you can see the new rear top hat and outrigger / jacking point:

    New floor in place:

We then moved onto the front. The deformation panel was removed:

Didn't get pics of replacing the lower inner panel, and both of the bottom corners of the front panel needed repairing. Repairs finished ready for prep and paint:

The van painted and re assembled:

Should be a feature in Camper & Bus magazine shortly :)

    Cheers
