Kirk Loch Caravan & Camp Site, Lochmaben, Scotland

  1. We visited this last week (on my birthday;). We've been to Lochmaben a few times as we got married not too far away at Comlongon Castle. Anyway, it's a very small site on the banks of Kirk Loch at Lochmaben. There are around 9 pitches that have 'front row seats' onto the loch. Behind that you get another row and then there is an elevated row of pitches that also have a great loch view. Electric hookups and water tap for all pitches, a toilet block, showers and also a utility room with a washing machine, sinks for dishes and a freezer.

There is a very small park on the site, by small I mean two swings but there is room for ball games etc. There is sailing allowed on the loch and Lochmaben golf course is right there next door to the site with the majority of the course running around the loch.

Just behind the site is The Crown Hotel. A very small hotel having only 4 annexe rooms but they serve pub grub and have a large garden for the kids to play on with paddling pool and football nets.

Lochmaben itself is a very small town, a few miles away from its neighbour Lockerbie. There are a few small convenience shops in the village, another pub, a cafe/coffee shop, post office but if you want larger shops, supermarket and cafes etc you'll need to drive to Lockerbie which is around 5 mins down the road.

Altogether if you want a beautiful setting but a quiet weekend away then it's great!!

    Pitches around £17 per night.
