That's all I have. The daily beetle is being used, and the panelvan is awaiting my attention in a secret location...

After it was finished, I spent nothing for a few years but now I let myself spend about £1k/year whether it needs it or not. It's a hobby, the insurance is cheap, the tax is free, it's my only vehicle and it's not so hard to justify to myself that I need to sweat over the cost.

Even with all the costs of keeping it going its cheaper than leasing or paying depreciation on new cars but not as cheap as 16 year old Peugeot diesels to keep on the road. I always guess £25-30K for 10 years use.

  6. God, you lot are brave. I'm with @Lasty I keep big invoices for warranty purposes, everything else goes in the bin.
If I knew I wouldn't do it, I'd have stopped ages ago. Ignorance is bliss.

  7. I saw a card in a shop the other day...... it was for cyclists but could easily apply to bus owners.

It said “ my greatest fear is that when I die my wife sells my bikes for how much I told her they cost”
