Just out of curiousity, how much can you weigh?

I think I read somewhere that the upper bed in a Westy (Berlin) can only hold 85kg. I was wondering if this was true and if anybody pushes this limit through real life experiences and to what degree?
    Cheers

  2. Tested it, what do you mean?

Should I have stated static weight as opposed dynamic forces....unless you wish to enlighten us all ;)

I’m not completely sure how much I can weigh, but with enough time and biscuits I reckon I could go quite far with this challenge. Is there a prize?

I know a couple that certainly doubled that, probably tripled it, but it would be rude to name names. :)

  6. My son climbed up into our Westy Roof bed and it held OK - he is 14 stone

  7. Front or rear hinged. I’ve slept in the upper bed of a front hinged Westy which was a bit cramped but it didn’t seem to bother it and in around 92 kilos! Rear hinged is more substantial from what I’ve seen!

@Suss and @crossy2112 can share a top bed without a problem so you'll be fine

Rear hindged (edit auto spell check error), thanks.

Everyone else, too many to mention, thanks as well.

The bed looks pretty strong, about 15mm thick I think, maybe we could try a deflection test at Techenders ......god forbid:eek:

85kg limit is ridiculous. We sleep up stairs in the Berlin all the time and with more than double that

  17. I wonder what the average weight of a TLB member is? To the nearest 100kg?

The original cloth in our bunks has gone a bit ‘see through’ in places,so they ain’t used...

Mine was very carefully aged tartan fabric that was brittle to the touch by the time I got the bus , just the right combination of heat, damp and rust , so I went down the local fabric shop and chose some poly/cotton curtain material. Which supported my weight when I weighed 100kg but it being a Devon bunk there wasnt really room for all of me, more like a Californian sealion sitting on a small boat.

  20. 85?!?! No chance! I’m 120kg and my Mrs is considerably less than that (and behind me) and we’ve slept up top for the past 8 years.
