might be a good idea to send pictures of your new van to the resident geeks on here ,there is loads to choose from ,optimistic ones ,pessimistic ones ,they will give you a honest opinion... Might save you heartache in the future... welcome btw...
Well, cutting a very long story short.... The camper had a fair bit of work done to it to get through the mot- totally new brakes, suspension, little bit of welding, new ball joints etc etc...I made an offer which obviously didn't seem high enough and the sellers duly putting it eBay to see how much they could get for it - understandable enough I guess, i ended bidding on it and lost it by £100 and it only went for £500 more than my original offer....gutted.. So I'm back to square one and on the lookout, I've been to look at a couple in my price range and they both need money spending on them for different reasons - one is seemingly mechanically spot on ( receipts for work done to) it is complete although the interior needs a lot of TLC but there are rust scabs around the rear quarters and at the bottom of the front screen - at least they've not been hidden so I know they are there. The other is over my budget slightly but is rock solid and mechanically spot on - a new vege engine, clutch, recon gearbox , the interior is very clean but sparse and we'll have to fit it out to our liking (seen as a p0sitive) but again...more cost. I have made an offer on one and am waiting on a decision and I'm going to make an offer on the other one today...fingers crossed
Bit of a long wait. Keep looking but don't end up being worn down and buying a load of pooh. Also don't buy a project. My first bus I had for two weeks before it died and I ended up scrapping it but that's a long time ago. Get something that's good to go. If someone has to fix it to flog it to you then alarm bells should be ringing anyway and its unlikely it will be trouble free. Rock solid with a new engine and box sounds good. stick some details up or do it privately to get some feedback if you want. I never took my scooter to a rally in the back of a van either. I did go in a van from time to time I must admit but only when the scoot was dead. Good on yah but think the rack idea is useful when your camped up and need transport to get out for a pint of milk or whatever without breaking camp (or sneaking off for a few hours). I like the idea.
Hello from Newark. Well Balderton actually. Sorry but I've only just picked up on this thread. May get chance to say hello at Spring Camp or A1 V Dub Club next Monday at Coddington.
small world...what do you drive? I'll keep an eye open for you. It looks like we are going to Spring Camp mate so we'll no doubt meet up there, where's the A1 Dubclub meet? at the Inn on the green?
Oh oooo the Newark Mafia is taking over, we'd best knock Kelham Bridge down, keep us Kirkby folk safe
Good luck - you're in good hands on this site. Top tip - get yourself to Techenders if you can. With or without a van
I was in Kirkby today , went to pick up my touch up paint from dacrylyte ...all 5 bloody litres of it
There a lot of bay owners in & around Kirkby - about 14 or 15 now & between Sutton, Hucknall & Notts, the popularity is gaining!
Where? On Tracy Island? You could use Thunderbird 4 to take out Kelham Bridge before I get my Afrika Korps magnolia VW Panzer across.
Ordinarily Id say Michelles handbag as that's where most things end up..everything else is there Thinkin about it, if we took Kelham Bridge out, us west coast crew wouldn't be able to cross to visit!
