  1. Nice chassis repair dude - the rag tops are pricey bud but nice go the moon roof way ????

  2. Cheers dale , moon roof you mean like yours with one sheet of Perspex ?

  3. yes bud - i looked at rag tops mega bucks for what they are unless you can get a boat type person to make a custom cover that pops on and off

A sheet of perspex covering the hole does sound better when you call it a moon roof. :)
I would keep the poptop as long as the bellows is saveable.
It does go on and on and on and on doesn't it?
"just the roof to do" could turn into a month of Sundays on it's own!

I've "just" got a pair of front arches to fit next week. Then just prep the bottom half of the bus. Doing everything to a resto bus is a big job.

  5. perspex covering the hole ?????? thanks

Sorry Dale, no offense meant - I don't remember seeing yours, but your bus is customised and very well suited to such a mod. A poptop would look odd on yours and it would have surprised me if you'd missed the opportunity to do something different. Horses for courses?
I know you're not selling BB, but a poptop is where it's at if you ever did. Most people justify having these old beasts by camping in them and want poptops.

  7. Yeah it's a fair point zed the below is ok need a good clean up but I do think it would last long so need to look at getting something else I can have to pop top Firbre glassed no problem so it's worth having it done , think ill have them make it look abit better by takeing some off the unneeded stuff of .

Dale I did look at yours and its a smart job mate really it is but as its been said you have a custom bus I think it may look abit on on mine .

  8. And the only thing I think about rag tops other than the money is that it can be easily cut open to get in side not that it's hard to get into one of these busses but still and expensive thing to fix

  9. Right then the pop too is about to be took for some work hopefully have a strait edged pop top soon

  10. Got the pop top back today and its very solid but its heavier and still needs to be cut better around the roof he has made the side pull in loads in the time frame we had to do it and the work is great but something is still telling me rag top .
I'm thinking about welding the back quarter of the roof hole up the haveing a rag top from the centre support in the roof to the back of the can area .
Then I finally give the old girl a wash :)

  11. And the pop top in now on my garage roof so I have a pop top garage now [IMG]

  12. Another nice day out so I uses my time to finish the out riggers and take some other parts off and generally under seal the other bits I missed .
I think I'm finally comeing to the end of the welding on the chassis only bits left are some small patches to finish but I've hit some of the rear quarter and found the paint is comeing of if you scrap at it now I know most paint would do this but it seems to be holding in some places and not in others .
I would really like to paint the van in 2 k but I've not got the space and carnt afford to pay someone else to do it so it may have to be the roller job untill I can afford it , anyway a few pics of the old girl

  13. Ok it won't upload the pics

  15. I've not really done much on the bus these last few months with moving house and getting back into mountain biking again ( and spending to much on my bike ) its time I did abit more hopefully will get out there today to get some stuff done , the van needs to be emptied really but its having room in my garage for it all .
And the next thing is do I run it a bit rat like or finish all the paint off , I should all be one colour but I'm not thinking just get all my parts back on the bus and make it run for a mot then do the rest as and when .
I really want the van on the road to go biking with as we have a caravan for family holidays as the van is not big enough

  16. Well got a bit done , the exhaust and some other bits plus got the Engine to turn off abit
But the rear lights lenses are utter crap cheap crap at that they done fot and have had to be shaved on the bolt holes to make them fit .
Plus my new rear drums need milling down as there to thick and the wheel bolts don't go all the way on

  17. Finally got to get June out in the sun , put a load of parts on here today head lights etc and give one door a brush paint and as I just want it on the road the paint job will have to wait it will just be flatted to a Matt finish with spots rubbed though so it looks like its old well you know the idea as long as its a solid Ish colour
Anyway here you go a few shots in the sun [IMG][IMG][IMG]
