rickyrooo1 Hanging round like a bad smell

he has, theres a thread about it

  8. One sheared off rocker shaft, one worked it way totally loose from the head on#1.

#2 spark plug melted, also appears that #2 exhaust valve has melted too. Haven't tried it but it may have melted to the head.

Other than that heads and pistons are intact but everything is dry and brown. Cleaning the exhaust is going to be a nightmare, it is full of black sludge!

Thread in mech tech shows pics of the damage

  9. Don't know what's happened to all my photos? Anyhow, here is the 'new to me" 2 litre engine almost ready to go in

  11. Exhaust about to come off as it's blowing, push rod tube seals being changed and it's leaking like a sieve :(

Sounds nice though, apart from the popping and farting

  14. It will sound a lot better tomorrow. Exhaust was leaking and I couldn't get it to seat correctly so I've whipped it off and put some new heat exchangers on it. Took the push rod tubes out and put new seals on too as it was spewing oil. Set the valves on the morning and should be good. I've never driven a 2 litre motor before, it pulls like a train from really low revs, seems to have stacks of torque?

The 2 litres are pretty strong motors - our clutch has a bit of oil contamination (I think) as the crank seal on the gearbox end is leaking a bit and doesn't quite cut it. Lowie had an 1800 AW series type 4 with bigger b & p's fitted and then went like a bloody rocket, its back at 1800 now but still goes very well in comparison!

  16. All sorted now, no exhaust or oil leaks. Happy days. Flys even better now the valves are all set correctly. That'll teach me to be so lazy and impetuous. Sounds luverly now

  18. Been messing this weekend and got my clocks back in, new tachometer in place and the bug-tech shifter working as it should. Been messing with the go-pro software too...

  19. See, your wipers are mocking you by standing to attention. Beware, they're gonna ***** you over soon as your backs turned!
