  1. Might just be a replacement exhaust part that comes with the hole in as standard, could use it for a lamda and have a wideband a/f r

  2. I could't see these on your thread?

  3. Quite possibly, as its running well I'll think I'll leave well alone. :)

  4. Took my drive shafts to work, stripped them down, bead blasted them and sprayed them black.
Soaked the CV joints in Duck oil, stripped them down and cleaned all the old grease off.
I then reassembled with new boots clips and grease. I cleaned the flanges on the gearbox and hubs and bolted them all up with new bolts.

  5. I spent about an hour scraping the crud off around the gearbox etc, got a nice pile of Oragon dust if anyone wants it:-

While Jacky Brown was up on axle stands I took the opportunity to bleed the brakes, there was no air but the old fluid had gone really dirty, I bled at the RHS rear wheel until clean fluid came through, followed by the LHS rear wheel, then the RHS front wheel and finally the LHD front. I used about a litre of DOT4 so now I know the brakes are good.

Next jobs on my list are:-
1.) change the front steering pin,
    2.) get the wipers working,
3.) clean the underside and maybe paint,
4.) fit an aerial, speakers and a stereo,
5.) Bolt the middle seat in,
6.) Fit the missing heating pipes underneath. I have two here just need the other two.
7.) Change the fuel lines, fuel filter and breathers,
    8) Change the oil and filter (the oil is golden so its been done recently but the filter looks old)
9.) Fit the missing thermostat, cable and two pieces of missing tinware,
10.) Recover the front and middle seats,
    11.) Replace the headliner,
12.) Register, tax and insure the bus

  6. Job one is complete:-

  8. The procedure was:-
1.) hammer the bottom cover off with a small chisel or screw driver.
2.) Undo the bolt on the relay lever.
3.) Pull the pin out from the bottom and undo the grease nipple.
4.) Pull the relay lever out of the way, I left everything connected
5.) Pull off the top cap and seal, remove the seal and shim from the relay leaver
6.)I used a screwdriver and carefully drove the top bearing out upwards.
7.) I used a hacksaw blade and cut through the bottom bearing which then fell out.
    8.) clean everything off thoroughly
9.) I used a threaded bar, 2 dished washers off T4 caravelle mushroom bolts and 2 17mm nuts.
10.) Pressed the bottom bearing in flush with the bottom
11.) Pressed the top bearing in 1.1mm from the top face.
12.) pushed the pin in making a note of where the slot is and making sure the spring washer goes on first.
13.) put the large washer in the cap followed by the seal then pushed it on the pin.
14.) put the small seal on followed by the shim followed by the relay leaver.
15.) Jack up the vehicle on the centre pin I used a block of wood between the jack and the bottom pin.
    16. Line up the relay leaver with the slot in the pin and G-clamp it down tight.
17.) put the 19mm bolt back in the relay leaver making sure you fit the lock tab first.
18.) Tighten up to the torque in the manual (can't remember what it was now)
19.) refit the grease nipple and the bottom cover
    20. Grease it up with a grease gun
21.) while your there grease your beam too. :)

  9. Cheers it was tight going on but I'll check again when I'm under the bus next week.
    :)

  11. While the bus was in the air I decided to clean off the grease nipples and grease the beam.
There are 4 grease nipples altogether plus the one on the centre pin. Not sure when they were done last so I gave them all 20 pumps each so that grease was oussing out the ends:-
