It's now or never...

  1. Just because Volksbolts have it on their page does not make it fact . It also does not mean its incorrect either ....
I quite like the modern spring style or the single use clamps where you use the special pliers (can`t remember what they are called )

We are not allowed to use jubilee clamps on air lines at work !!!

I personally think they are all ok ,its the idiot that put them on that's the issue

  3. Look I’m only trying to pass on the advice I have received in the past on this forum , this seems like a similar can of worms to “which oil should I use”! The article you posted was interesting and it explains that using the correct size clamps is the important bit and that either clamp is fine , I think there are ways of putting your point across without icons , as after all I’m only trying to pass on info that I have received and it is correct to use fuel clamps albeit there are alternatives as you have so kindly pointed out .

  5. The link I posted up shows sizes, how much you need and where to buy from. It's the avoid a fire thread.

I tried to tag @Ermintude in the exact relevant post within that thread.

  6. thank you again.

I've looked at the kits but no idea which twin carb one i need and peter can't remember - puh, apparently he sees so many vw engines that mine clearly hasn't stood out! The kits have kunifer hard line included and i wondered if i needed one too.

Spoken to peter at aircooled works and going to get pics of my engine to work out which kit i need. I'll replace the leaky one but will have my peter replace the rest. :)

  8. Buy it from advanced fluid solutions for speed and cost!
This is what I needed for my twin carb set up (dellortos)
I also have a malpassi filter king thing
    1.75metre of 5.5mm (Internal Diameter)
    2.5metre of 7.3mm (I.D)
1 metre of 8mm kunifer hard line
(Most motor factors should have this - Peter may be able to get you some?)

Depending on your set up fuel pump/carbs etc: You may also need an Ethanol resistant T piece 8/6/8mm or 8/8/8?.
    I also needed a 6/8mm straight reducer
(for my filter king) I don't know what you will need, so buy all sizes from Advanced Fluid Solutions or ask Peter to get them once the bus goes into him!

You will need some fuel clips (Advanced fluid solutions sell them in all sizes). There seems to be lots of debate about fuel clips

VW aircooled works supplied my kit with lots of fuel clips, my engine builder refused to use them, so I still have them -
I'll leave my fuel clips/spares with Peter for you in case any of it helps - you can give it me back at Techenders if not used.

here is the info from other thread:
    5.5mm i.d 100% bio hose:
    £16.19 p.m Advanaced fluid solutions http://www.advancedfluidsolutions.co.uk/100-bio-fuel-hoses-petrol--diesel-hose-0--100-199-c.asp.
£16.50 per metre http://www.coolairvw.co.uk/ These guys also offer a TLB discount
? per metre at VW aircooled work as they sell in kits. Kevlar reinforced?

    7.3mm i.d 100% bio fuel hose:
£17.51 p.m Advanced fluid solutions. The website doesn't state who manufactures it, but when they sell on ebay it says cohline
    £20.50 per metre coolair vw
£25 per meter VW Aircooled works. Supply cohline

When I was looking to buy 100% bio hose I told the supplier my set up: Tank to 6mm mechanical fuel pump, to filter king to twin carbs. I was told that I needed to get exact measurements of breather pipes, carbs etc, so they could supply the correct sized pipe. I waited for my engine to come out to get measurements of the two poxy tank breathers 7mm i.d. There was no point in doing this as everyone sells the same two sizes of pipe. So I could have ordered it all before the engine came out. I think everyone sells cohline stuff as well!

I hope this will save someone some cash.

I have bought far too much fuel hose. I would have been in ignorant bliss if it wasn't for this forum & thread.
On the flips side a mate lost his bug to fire!

really didn't need this right now but better than a bus on fire. bum, bum, bums!

I’ve just been reading this and have had a couple of fuel pipes go myself over the years.
First one a friends mate replaced with some hose they used in their factory, can’t remember what for, and the second I got from local motor factors and just asked for whatever mm fuel pipe I needed.

Should I have asked for anything specific? It’s been fine tho and I can’t imagine motor factors would sell anything completely bobbins. Think it was cheaper too as it didn’t have VW camper attached to it!

5/16” ! Now I’m really confused. This seems too important to get wrong. But guess 7.93mm is close enough?
