Just popped out to the camper to finish greasing the Front Beam, as I’d run out of grease and had fitted a new steering centre pin and bushes. Anyway, noticed a tiny bit of rust, so gave it a prod! Ended up with this: Had a poke on the other side and the bottom is gone, but not as bad. Would new plates welded in be ok? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It is repairable. But you havent hit it with a ball pein hammer so the holes look much smaller than they really are. The approach I took to having a go myself was hit it quite hard all over with a hammer. If it dented or vanished it was no longer about 2mm steel so it needed a patch ..
The bottom left photo I’ve cut a reasonable size square section out to get to good metal, then had a look around the back and poked with a screw driver! I agree, new beam required! Now, what one. JK looks good for the money, non adjustable, comes with new centre pin, just need seals. Anybody fitted a JK beam?
That's for the upselling ,makes you sick . Been looking at battery power tools and noticed there selling " body only" .i.e battery are extra , what's all that about , please don't say it's cause you may already have a battery that fits , It's just a sneaky way to charge more for the battery as a separate item .
Don't go for a jk beam . I have 1 on my van and it's been a nightmare . 1. Yes there is no bump stops on these and I don't know why . 2. The bracket the holds the brake servo in is put on straight and not on a angle like the og one I had 3. Don't know if they changed the details but they did not say that the beam would not be at standard height. This is not a straight swap . If I knew then want I know now I would of went elsewhere. Hope this help Simon
I wish I had done that . If I had I would of been able to keep my transporter Haus arms and spindles . With the jk beam I could not run them so had to back to stock . And yea I wish I still had the bump stops Glad I could help
Hi, I was looking at the non adjustable one as I have dropped spindles. So what are the options? >JK fixed, no bump stops but with steering pin >JK adjustable, no bump stops, but you can’t set to standard height >Transporter Haus, Adjustable but again, no bump Stops, don’t know if it can be set to standard height (I’ve emailed them) >Creative, more expensive, Adjustable but again, no bump Stops, don’t know if it can be set to standard height? Anybody know? >VeeWee, not sure who makes these but again, no bump stops >Could get a good second hand one, buy the time you add new bearings Etc, similar price as a new one Are there any other suppliers worth considering? Cheers
Yep. I almost bought an electric skateboard the other week. When I added it to the basket it asked if I wanted the “standard” battery or the “travel” one. As I don’t intend to take it on a plane I obviously clicked “standard”. It added £250! Sacked it off.
? They sell body only so you don’t need to buy a battery for each tool, you only need one or two batteries in total. It saves you money.
