Iphone 3GS 6.15.00 baseband downgrade fix

  1. So, a few months ago, I dropped a boo boo, I installed the ipad baseband on my sons Iphone 3GS..........not the wisest thing I have done ! but, and there are a lot of hackers around that have been trying to solve this issue to be able to revert back to a previous baseband.............well, after weeks of tinkering, I have done it :)

    So, if anyone has a bricked Iphone 3GS there is a solution.............you will need 1 / Ifunbox - 2 / Redsn0w 0.9b8 (just google them)

Here is what I did and I will not be held responsible for this not working, but it worked for me 100% today.

Connect iphone to pc and open ifunbox (itunes closed)
Locate the Raw Data area of the iphone memory
Delete as many files as you can, I deleted everything 3 times over, some would not go on first attempt)
    Delete them all again
    Close ifunbox
open itunes with iphone off and enter DFU mode
(it took me 5 attempts to get this to actually restore and I am not 100% sure but I think it was due to low battery on the first few fails)
I chose to restore to a stock itunes build and not re JB it, I will do that later, but I wanted to make sure it took the baseband back to a previous stock build BB and I can confirm it did.
If the restore does not work the 1st time, keep at it, like I said, it took me 5 goes.

    Hope it works for you.

    Any questions, please ask

Please note : if you have tried to alter previous host files and you are getting error code 3194, go back in a check host file has the Apple.gs line removed

  2. The above is all theoretical of course.

If you have updated to IOS 5.1 then you can only use a tethered Jailbreak now.
