We have our route in may booked with various campsites, we will ensure we leave no mess, cause no hassle to the locals and try to get to know them. I want to be welcomed back in years to come!
It's more about the problems motorhomes bring ... most people I know wouldn't go travelling in a T2 van but would be happy to go in a much larger motorhome, blocking narrow roads, sitting inside watching their 12v telly rather than spend money in the locality.
Seems to be more about the assumption that wild camping is for motorhomes, not just tents - that's news to me - reading on here I got the impression it included campervans. "Many visitors do not understand that Scotland’s wild camping rules don’t apply to motor vehicles"
I thought it included campervans too, more reading required, methinks. But it is an interesting article about maintaining the balance between the environment, the local population and the tourist income; a common theme in any tourist hotspot.
I was reading this and thinking "great, the year we've planned to visit there's a backlash" and of course they have to put a picture of a VW camper at the top. Then I realised the Hebrides crofts and checks on the ferry have been doing this for over a decade, so its not a new thing, probably more a case of it went nuts with Covid so hopefully they might still be ok to see us if the *****s have gone back to Marbella but the signs on the back of a caravan aren't too welcoming
