  1. with EFI and a S/C maybe

  2. G'day Dicky,

I think for both my purposes and the purposes of this thread, if you can detail your current set up that would be great.

I plan on getting it on a rolling road, so it would be good to get a feel of what I will need in hand in order to get the best out of them.

Will add some pics of my carbs at the beginning of this thread today - they are defo Alfa again so need to do some work on them.

    Cheers All

  3. Will see if I can find the info. One thing I would mention is that some tuners will open out your chokes and jets when they road it! So better starting smaller. Mines absolutely standard btw

  4. So I have:

    28 Chokes
    118 Mains
    9164.1 Emulsion
    175 Air Correct
    46 Idle
    35 pumps

    I need, *i think*

    30 chokes
    130 Mains
    9164.2 Emulsion
    180 Air Correct
    58 Idle
    35 pumps << already have

Help! This is going to get expensive @ Eurocarb!

  5. Probably not get much change from 200 quid from euro carb ......your 175 airs would be good !
That's why it's usually better to buy carbs that have come off a vw already .
You could check out eBay as euro carb sell on there or there is a carb swop section on VZI

  6. Live and learn... 175's good? you want them or good for 2.0ltr?

Thinking may hone them out...and good advice re. VZI have a post up already....

  7. The difference between 175 an 180 is so tiny it won't matter .....this was the advice from eurocarb when I was after 180s

30 vents for 40 dells are hard to come by second hand , eBay jets make sure they are genuine ones ,I also don't think the linkage in your first post is the correct one,

I'd go a bellcrank type if I was to do it again or cable as the CB bits that fit the carb are like a dick in a bucket type fit

  8. I'm working to improve a Weber 'dick in a bucket' linkage at the moment...It's not so much an 'interference fit' as a slight intrusion....

  9. Went for the bell crank, ordered today with loads of other suff - I can see how this gets expensive now!

First post updated with all the info, orders placed at Machine 7, EuroCarb and State Side - roll on the weekend!

  10. why mess around doing it that way - take it down a rolling road and get it done properly. Not only do they set it up exactly as you need it, tuned perfectly to how you need to drive it, but you only pay for the jets you use. As they take old jets out anyway they don't normally charge. Think I paid £120 for mine
    :)

  11. Good advice which would have been useful at the start - no matter, in for a penny. I was of the opinion that I would need the above as a base line, to get me running then the RR can make the necessary changes. It's done now so I'll sell what I am left over with.

  12. Don't shoot the messenger, only trying to help.

Did that on 29th Jan btw... ;)

  13. Certainly not my intention, all comments are welcome. It's primary reason for me creating this thread and updating the first post - and that others that follow can find worthwhile information and advise such as this.

  14. you can solder your 9164.1 emulsion tubes to make .2's
    did mine

  15. Masterjedi: top man. Indeed i discovered this fact myself today, so will be documenting that mod. Looking at the pic below in order 1234. You simply solder the hole at the top to make a 2. I have electrical solder, and solder that I use for plumbing - which is best? I assume you use some wet and dry to make it flush?[IMG]

  16. A rolling road will not have a selection of vents ,airs or emulsion tubes . They usually change mains and idle ... Using what other people have as a base to start with is best . Your also not going to be able to get the emulsions hot enough to solder with a soldering iron ,you need a blow torch of such ...

  17. Eh? I thought that was exactly what I suggested. perhaps I was unclear. Btw cant find my jetting details - sorry

  18. I'd suspect some rolling road folk will drill out existing jets, rather than keep a vast stock of them.

  19. @Dicky: appreciate you looking. I thought Jokers advice was different to yours....either way, I figure if I get close before the RR at least I can drive there....Also going to keep my 28 vents to start with as per your comment. Eurocarb also commented 28's should be OK given the application I.e Camper
