Andy don't forget to have some pie and mash from Harrington's 3 Selkirk Road Tooting not far from where you are staying Selkirk Road was also where Dirty Derek the milkman used to live, order 2 pies 1 mash 1 liquor and 1 pot of jellied eels mmm lovely, have a look opposite there is a tiny Tailor's shop run by a lovely Jewish family I bought my 2 tone suit there made to measure in 1972, if you fancy curry the Dosa n chutney is the best Indian take away in London Raj the owner is a right character and has a better cockney accent than me :p across the main road is tooting market where I worked on the fruit and veg stall back in the day, it's a shame the pubs aren't open because you could of popped into the castle my old local for a pint of London's finest , cor that used to be a lively pub especially on a Friday when all the builders got paid it used to be like a cowboy Western saloon bar some days punch ups galore :p, go to Tooting Broadway underground station put your fist in the air and shout " POWER TO THE PEOPLE" if you see citizen Smith say hi from me, opposite the station was Don's the barbers we used to go there on a Saturday morning before going to the footy for a no 1 all over hair cut, the real reason we went there was because Don always had a good selection of Parade magazines and I fancied his daughter who used to sweep up for him, I never did get to take her out although it wasn't for the want of trying , she's probably a lesbian:p , next to Don's was Tina's cafe we used to have a fry up there after our hair cuts, Tina used to cook with a senior service cigarette constantly stuck in her mouth could you imagine that happening today, loved Tina bless her , have a great time Andy the people are friendly well if you tell them you're a Geordie Chelsea fan they are

  7. Bazza, your other old stomping ground - Balham - is getting proper posh now. Changed a bit since I used to go there, Mrs P used to live in a flat in Du Cane Court.

Interesting fact about Du Cane Court
The Nazis had plans for it to be their headquarters had they invaded Britian

  10. I think it had links to the Profumo Affair scandal as well.

I left my car on Balham High Rd one Sunday night without realising it was an urban clearway, woke up Monday morning- car gone. It had been towed to wandsworth compound and cost me £175, to release, most of a weeks wages to me in 1992.

    Oh how we laughed.
