A bigger exhaust and a pair of smallish throated dual barrel carburettors so you still can use an SVDA.
Because there is then enough air speed and therefore vacuum for the carburettors to work reliably.

A 123 does not necessarily improve over a good points ignition with a backlash-free SVDA distributor. Its getting more and more expensive too for what it is. It is a beautifully made replacement for an electronic module in a Bosch SVDA. It is not designed to increase the spark energy - the only change is the 'dual spark' mode with some 123's and settings for them.

They do purr with a 123 but I only got one to solve a specific issue.
They are a bit spendy if what you have is fine already.

To date once fitted it's been faffing free so far for me. As said starting no problem and if the carburettors are well set its a pleasure to drive.

I've got a Buttys throttle kit on my 1600 with stock solex carb. The kit is well worth it and I noticed a big difference to the original, which could have been in "used " condition.

  9. Not sure i understand that.
Happy with the dellortos and exhaust system for now.

Cheaper electric ignition system/electronic module would be an option .

May just leave it all alone for now as its not broken.

  13. Not sure it does at the moment.

Got some birthday money that has to be spent on the camper, was going butty throttle kit, then thought may be better spent towards a 123, but as zedders says they are a bit spendy.

Ill wait til something goes pear shaped instead!

    Thanks for the input everyone.

123’s are a bit outdated now tbh. If you want to be cool, you are going to need a 456+

I have a limited number of these available for an introductory price of £456+ vat.

  18. Be wary of that one. Looks to me like a 456- that someone has cheekily made to look like a +!
