So having almost recovered from my slipped disc , trapped nerve pulled muscles and non firing glutes I am considering joining my 11 year old daughter in learning to roller blade

it seems like a bonding opportunity:D

thoughts , advice please , I know @CollyP does roller blades with a stick or something with loads of girly pads n stuff , I have an argyle jumper with Corduroy elbow patches a trilby and of course a half bent billiard smoking pipe.

as a thoroughly modern gentleman are there any other accessories I’m likely to need ?

ps has anyone got any spare 8,1/2 or 9 roller blades spare :D

the local skate park of teenagers seems a suitable to begin my training

many thanks your glorious leader xx

In all seriousness, there are soooooo many different types.

    outdoor street skates
    Skate park skates
    Indoor skates
    Hockey skates

    can you even skate?

ive got my BAGA 3 forward roll , I was an ok skater on olden fashion 4 wheelers about 30 years ago :D , I just want the skates that make me look even more cooler (not possible you say ;))

I suppose outdoor, street, maybe skate park cos I have a death wish , can I make the wheels turn slower for training? X

I think you might be better off walking the hills and dales of Hayling Island to build up your strength. Dont take the cable car up to the mid station, the climb will do you good...

this could be a fun watch! I don’t think there are many forces on earth that would get me in rolled skates!

  15. Let me know if you do start. I want to come and watch. It will be worth a ferry trip.

  16. Glad you are recovering now however, I see you are still taking the Tramadol, a lot of Tramodol.

I think you may need some leg warmers so your trousers don’t get caught in your wheels, or some bike clips if you’re feeling understated. Maybe some driving gloves to protect your hands when you fall over?

I would recommend start with old school skates initially for your return just for balance purposes. As someone who broke their wrist doing figure of 8 speed skating I have experience of skating injuries. Also you will probably look ultra cool and retro and maybe be a trend setter in Hayling? You may need a ghetto blaster too but as that may be awkward to balance on your shoulder, and I don’t want more strain on your dodgy back, maybe start with a transistor radio?

I have (surprisingly) found some 4 wheelers for you @davidoft . Do you like any of these? X

  20. I used to skate back in the day and thing you definitely need is wrist guards. Buy them and use them!!
