I know it's been covered, but I'm very keen on doing a Scooby conversion. Is that better?

  2. what rad is that one..?

    do you have a scoop...?

  3. I'm also thinking about/saving up for a Subaru conversion and agree it would be good to have a forum section for it. I want it because the kids have started borrowing the van for their festivals etc and I reckon I need something a bit more robust than my 1600 TP - they don't lavish the TLC that I do

  4. This is what it's all about - I have learnt more than I expected from this forum, please keep it up!

Two more things that would be really cool...:

Pictures of a loom and the items needed from the Scooby.

    Heating...and maybe even Air Con?

I've got the heating, there's a photo o the heater unit mounted under the floor on my thread.
I guess you could do the a/c as well?

  6. Picture of the loom..Titter,titter..Here's mine just after I'd removed it.[IMG]

I'm not a mechanic so I've broken a Subaru and kept everything :D

  10. Can you fit a 2.0 litre twin turbo from a legacy? There's one finishing in an hour on ebay.

If you can find somewhere for the turbo to go. Ideally it'd go where the tank is.

  12. I am far from an expert.. From what I have read you can but the original petrol tank needs moving to make room for the twin turbos????
My advice if wanted is research, research and then do some more research before you buy. There's always another Subaru to be had.

  13. So once you've found your engine and ancillaries, any idea of the labour cost to fit the engine?

I looked at the twin turbo when I did mine and its alot more work with charge coolers etc. To get the turbos to clear you can just take the header off and rotate it 360 degrees and have them by the cam covers as there is loads if room around there.

After converting mine to Subaru I'm now looking at vw tdi for better economy. If I stop messing around with the engine I will have to start on the body work lol

There really is no need to upgrade the brakes. You just need to make sure they're working as they should!
