  1. Sad. So sad :(

  2. The TR8 was the one to have, finally got the power it was crying out for. They were much better built by then, at Solihull not Speke, but unfortunately it's reputation was irretrievably tarnished:(

  3. Indeed. Recall they didn't actually make that many TR8s?

They are pillars of the British car building empire, it should be mandatory to own at least one crap British car in everyone's lifetime.

  5. Never owned a crap Ford?

Talking of Triumph IMG_20230321_183322.jpg 's, I've dragged the old Vit out of hibernation, 3 days of tweeking and spit & polish later.......

But that’s the point, Ford aren’t pants…. Cortina’s, escorts, capris, all fab. Going further back, the Zephyrs and Anglias and prefects… all fab. Even the Sierras were ace. And once you get more modern than that, being crap holds no kudos anyway. No, I’m afraid Ford doesn’t count. It has to be British Leyland.

  9. They are indeed generally not pants. I had several, managing to avoid anything made by BL (apart from my Dad's Rover 3.5s, which were excellent ).

None really, new centre outriggers, side rails, front body mounting brackets and a large part of drivers floor replaced a few years ago. Never use it with salt down.

  11. It's a beaut! Is it the same as a Herald, where you can flip the bonnet up and sit on the front wheel while you're fixing the engine :)?

Apparently the yellow TR7 in the Detectorists actually belongs to Mackenzie Crook. And has had a massive effect on the rise in value of of TR7’s

  17. In 68 to 71 I used to teach (well child mind) in Halewood near Speke - and would see trailer loads of TR7 body shells being delivered to the factory and left in the yards outside - - they were out in all weathers - no wonder that they rotted.

  19. Reading up, seems most went off to the US, rather than Europe.
