It started when I was scanning the Facebook marketplace of an evening just passing some time when I came across this advert: My heart skipped a beat when I instantly recognised the number plate! This was my mates first car which he’d taken off the road to restore 30 years ago, he never got it back on the road and I suppose lost interest so sold it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
He resisted initially but 24 hours later he’d struck a deal and arranged collection! It was dropped on his drive Xmas eve! It needs a lot of work but what a find, like I said to him ‘you can’t not buy it’ even if it takes you 10 years to get it back on the road, you have got to finish what you started all those years ago! He’s already buying up boxes of mini bits Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you haven't seen it, look up 'project binky' on YouTube. They do something pretty spectacular with an old mini like that. https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGSOZAHg1yQHU1tc_3Y5MTQg1qjtxA_nq Sent from my SM-N9500 using Tapatalk
No the engine & box are both missing along with random suspension bits, it had a 1275gt in it originally! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Install a Toyota GT 4 4x4 chassis and engine then, like project Binky does? Sent from my SM-N9500 using Tapatalk
The heart, engine and chassis are already out of it. We have the technology. We can rebuild it. Sent from my SM-N9500 using Tapatalk
I was talking to him earlier as he’s desperately trying to find one of my mums old beetles for me as a project which I’m glad he’s not succeeded as I’d have to buy it and he’s knows it His plan is to do what needs doing to get it back on the road, I think he’s already sourced another 1275GT engine then just have some fun in it I recon he will save the full tear down for when he retires I’m hoping to get this through an mot this month to cruise round in but I fear it may go for spares on eBay Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
