Here's a tangent (sounds like it won't matter to anyone reading this thread ) I grew up in, and my Dad still lives in, "Whetstone", North London... So called because the sword -whetting stone used by one side in the "last battle in the War of the Roses" ... the Battle of Barnet ... is still set into the pavement at the traffic lights at one end of the high street.
