If you were going for a tour in your camper for pleasure, how many days would you allow to drive 3000 miles and still enjoy the trip, stop off at some places and have a relaxing time.
30 days based on 150 miles a day and then time to stop at places for a while when needed - you dont want to drive 20 days non stop.
where you planning on going? you could have a couple of days solid travelling followed by two or thre days off and so on!
We did Edinburgh and back the long way round in 6 days - think we covered 1300 miles as we went via Norfolk and stayed at his Brother's house for two nights). You could probably do it in 2 weeks but you wouldn't feel relaxed at the end of it!
we did a fortnight a couple of years ago round Europe in the camper. It was very random, didn't know where we were going just following the sun. We maybe would drive for a couple of days 300 miles each day then stop for a couple ...probably did nearly 2000 in that time in all, but was a good balance between getting around and enjoyment. Where are you thinking of heading to?
We've got no real plans. I figured it could be done in about 14/15 days but thought it might be a bit too rushed. On average about 215 miles a day, so about 4 hours driving.
When we were in Costa Rica earlier this year we had to do a lot of driving - one day there was a 7hour drive and I must say the holiday was great but the driving days were a drag. We were lucky as we drove every few days - not every day - I think that would be less fun.
If i were to do this I'd only drive every other day, once your at your campsite you wanna have a look around and relax the next day then tootle on to your next destination
i have a plan in my head for my retirement years to take 6 months to drive round the whole of the u.k staying on coastal roads as much as possible, god knows how i will ever afford the petrol though.....
takes me six nights work on one night run i do other than that last time i did 3000 miles in a vw camper was in 1984 to calabria Italy and took a month ;D
